A month into his recovery from a sprained left ankle, Pierre Thomas is now wearing a walking boot to help relieve pain.
There is no timetable for a return to action for the New Orleans Saints running back, though, according to Brian Allee-Walsh of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Thomas is also using crutches and admits that the situation has become frustrating for him. He’ll miss his fifth game Sunday night when the Saints host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I really don’t know what’s the whole problem,'' Thomas said. "Everybody keeps saying it’s a sprain or maybe a little tear there. I don’t know for sure if that’s true. All I’m thinking about is just trying to get healthy, just trying to get better. I was told to stay off my foot. So that’s what I’m doing with the crutches and in the boot. They told me to take a little pressure off it, be on crutches for a little while and just see how it does.’’
Per the report, Saints coach Sean Payton said nothing has been ruled out, but surgery for Thomas does not appear to be an option at this point. Payton said they are aggressively pursuing means for Thomas to improve.
