Retired Oakland Raiders legendary quarterback Kenny Stabler died today, according to the NBC affiliate.
The Tuscaloosa News initially reported that Stabler had died, then retracted it and there were other reports that he was alive before he was actually declared dead.
The NBC affiliate cited Stabler's ex-wife and the former head of Stabler's charitable foundation and reported that the legendary quarterback died from prostate cancer.
Stabler was 69 years old.
He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and a one-time Super Bowl winner.
Stabler, who starred at the University of Alabama for Bear Bryant, also played for the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints.
Stabler was nicknamed "The Snake"
