Mike Shanahan declined to talk about reports that Trent Williams and Fred Davis will be suspended for the final four games of the regular season on Monday.
Today, the Redskins announced that the veteran players will be forced to sit out the remainder of the season for violating the NFL’s drug policy. Rick Maese of the Washington Post reported that the Redskins announced they have received official word from the league about the suspensions.
That means Williams, the left tackle, and Davis, the tight end, will be barred from visiting Redskins Park until Jan. 2, the day after the season ends. It’s a big blow for the Redskins, who have struggled for consistency on offense this season. Washington will be able to make roster moves to fill the vacancies.
