Not only are the Washington Redskins in search of a new team headquarters, they’re also looking for a place to hold training camp.
Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said the club is actively looking at alternative locations to build a new year-round facility, and now the team wants to branch out in the summer. The Redskins have trained at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va., since 2002, and the Washington Post reports that the team appears to be zeroing in on George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., as a location to hold camp.
Coach Mike Shanahan has expressed a desire to get away from the team facility for training camp. Per the report, the Redskins have made arrangements to book The Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel and have held discussions with leaders from the school. General manager Bruce Allen and team vice president Rod Nenner have toured campus.
The Redskins training at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., for more than three decades before moving in 1995.
