On a Friday afternoon, the NFL released information about its investigative findings in a bounty scandal that has rocked the New Orleans Saints.
The timing was noteworthy, because Friday afternoons is typically when businesses will release their bad news, hoping it gets washed out over the weekend.
According to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network, the league on a Wednesday will announce punishments for many of those involved, including defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who masterminded the system.
La Canfora reports a decision will come down shortly for Williams, Saints coach Sean Payton, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and the New Orleans franchise. Announcements about penalties for individual players could also come soon, but maybe not today.
Stay tuned.
