Two Buccaneers will miss most if not all of the offseason program in Tampa as they recover from offseason surgeries.
Defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson and weak-side linebacker Geno Hayes are on the mend, and the Tampa Tribune’s Roy Cummings report both will be on the shelf for some time. Wilkerson will be a free agent but the club has already started talking contract with him.
The left end had knee surgery a month ago and Hayes had surgery to repair a torn labrum. The good news is that both should be fully ready to go in advance of training camp.
Cummings speculates that Wilkerson could be forced into a reserve role, if he returns, behind Kyle Moore, who the team is anxious to promote.</p>
