The Rex Grossman era, at least for the start of this season, lasted five games.
Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan gave Grossman the hook, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the team will announce John Beck as the starting quarterback today for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Grossman had a decent start to the season but he was intercepted four times in Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at FedEx Field. He is tied for the NFL lead with nine interceptions.
Many expected Beck would be the starting quarterback coming out of preseason but Grossman just edged him in a close competition. That might be what helped Shanahan come to a decision.
