Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Richard Sherman isn't planning to have Tommy John elbow surgery at this time.

According to ESPN, Dr. James Andrews told Sherman to try and let the elbow heal on its own instead of having surgery. The elbow will be examined again later.

Shermand got hurt during the NFC championship game.

Seahawks Pete Carroll said last Tuesday in a radio interview that Sherman might not require Tommy John surgery.

"He's not a pitcher, and he's not a left-hander," Carroll said. "Sherm might not have to have that kind of surgery. If he was a thrower he would."
