St. Louis Rams veteran center Scott Wells has restructured his contract, lowering his base salary of $5.5 million for 2014 and 2015 to $1 million this year and $2 million in 2015.
Wells got a $1.65 million roster bonus today.
His salary-cap figures are down to $4.287 million this year and $5 million in 2015 from $5.5 million each year under the original terms of the contract.
Wells can make up to $850,000 through $53,125 per game active roster bonus this year and up to $1 million in 2015 from $62,500 per game active roster bonuses. Each year, he has $2 million in incentive clauses based on playing time plus playoffs and making the Pro Bowl.
Wells signed with the Rams in 2012, a $24 million deal that included $13 million guaranteed and a $4 million signing bonus.
