The Pittsburgh Steelers caught a tough break Friday night when Ike Taylor went out on the second play of the preseason opener at Washington with a broken left thumb.
But the prognosis sounds pretty good. Although Taylor is “probable” for surgery, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he’s expected to be back in about three weeks, meaning he should be in place for the regular season opener Sept. 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers re-signed Taylor, who was a free agent, at the start of the new league year. The team’s top cover man receiced a $28 million, four-year contract.
