Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Le'Veon Bell is sidelined for tonight's game against the New York Giants.

A bruising second-round draft pick from Michigan State, Bell was slated to work with the first-team offense tonight, but has a left knee injury and coach Mike Tomlin held him out for precautionary reasons.

It's been diagnosed as a bruise, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Steelers' backfield will consist of Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and Barron Batch.

Bell is regarded as a rarity in the NFL as a potential three-down runner.
