One day after Lions rookie running back Mikel Leshoure exited practice on a cart with a season-ending Achilles injury, Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith found himself taking the dreaded cart ride to the locker room.
ICONSmith walked off the field under his own power before exiting on a cart.
The good news for Panthers fans is that whatever Smith is suffering from is still unknown.
The Charlotte Observer’s Joe Person tweeted that the veteran wideout exited Tuesday morning’s practice on a cart after walking to the sidelines under his own power, which could rule out the possibility of a leg injury.
Smith hasn’t posted a 1,000-yard season since 2008, but will be an important weapon in the development of rookie quarterback Cam Newton.
