Dolphins activate star rookie RB De’Von Achane (knee) off IR

The Miami Dolphins activated standout rookie running back De’Von Achane off injured reserve on Saturday, and he is slated to play against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Achane missed the past four games due to a knee injury. He was placed on IR after rushing for 151 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries against the New York Giants in Week 5.

Achane’s 21-day practice window began Monday, and he was a limited participant in practice all week before being listed as questionable Friday.

Achane has scored seven touchdowns (five rushing, two receiving) in four games for Miami and has rushed for 460 yards with a sparkling 12.1 per carry.

He gained 455 rushing yards in a three-game span prior to going on IR. Achane had 203 of them against the Denver Broncos in Week 3.

The 22-year-old Achane was a third-round pick out of Texas A&M.

The Dolphins ruled out guards Robert Hunt (hamstring) and Robert Jones (knee) and wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) on Friday.

Reports: Dolphins RB De’Von Achane (knee) to miss multiple games

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De’Von Achane is likely to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury and could end up on injured reserve, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

Achane underwent tests on his knee on Monday, which was the only information head coach Mike McDaniel would disclose at the time. On Sunday, Achane boosted his AFC-leading rushing total to 460 yards in a win over the New York Giants.

Miami (4-1) selected Achane, a Texas A&M product, in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He turns 22 on Friday.

Achane has five rushing touchdowns and averaged a remarkable 12.1 yards per carry in his first four NFL games — he was inactive Week 1 — and has combined with Raheem Mostert for 12 rushing touchdowns and 774 rushing yards this season. Achane’s 460 yards are second in the NFL to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (510 yards).

Achane had 11 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win over the Giants. The TD was a 76-yard dash down the left sideline with Achane easily pulling away from defenders in pursuit. He briefly left the game but returned in the 31-16 victory.

His status for this week’s game against the Carolina Panthers is up in the air, McDaniel said Monday.

“I’m not really thinking anything too much right now. We’re still investigating. To be determined,” McDaniel said.

The Dolphins’ high-powered offense has 2,568 yards on the season, 546 more than the No. 2 team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dolphins RB De’Von Achane (shoulder) week to week

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De’Von Achane is week-to-week with a shoulder injury.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Achane avoided a severe injury when a defensive lineman fell on him during Saturday’s 28-3 preseason win at Houston.

Achane, 21, was a third-round pick out of Texas A&M. He has rushed for 52 yards on 15 carries and added 41 yards on four catches in two preseason games.

McDaniel also announced that backup quarterback Mike White is in concussion protocol and will not be active for Saturday’s preseason finale at Jacksonville.

White, 28, posted a 2-5 record for the New York Jets in games he started between 2021 and 2022, completing 62.2 percent of his passes for 2,145 yards with eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
