Ravens tab Anthony Weaver as new DC

The Baltimore Ravens officially named Anthony Weaver as the team’s defensive coordinator on Tuesday.

Weaver, 45, previously served as the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator before accepting the job at the same post in Baltimore. He previously worked for the Ravens from 2021-23, starting as a defensive line coach and run game coordinator before getting promoted to assistant head coach.

“A highly regarded defensive mind, Anthony Weaver has a proven track record of success and is the definition of what it means to be a Raven,” Baltimore new head coach Jesse Minter said. “He elevates players with his football IQ, tactical knowledge and natural teaching ability — all attributes that make him one of the game’s most respected coaches.”

Minter, however, will handle the defensive calls for the Ravens next season.

In Weaver’s second season as defensive coordinator for Miami in 2025, the Dolphins allowed 348.8 yards per game (22nd in the NFL) and 24.9 points per game (24th).

With Zach Orr as defensive coordinator, the Ravens yielded 354.5 yards per game (24th) and 23.4 points per game (18th).

Weaver began his NFL career in Baltimore after being selected in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He spent the first four of his seven NFL seasons playing for the Ravens.

Falcons interview Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver for head coach opening

The Atlanta Falcons kicked off their search for a new head coach by interviewing Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, the team announced Saturday.

Weaver, 45, concluded his second season as defensive coordinator with the Dolphins. He was a position coach on that side of the line with the New York Jets (2012), Buffalo Bills (2013), Cleveland Browns (2014-15), Houston Texans (2016-19) and Baltimore Ravens (2021-23) before becoming the Texans’ DC in 2020.

The Falcons finished the 2025 season with an 8-9 mark, with head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot fired at the conclusion of the campaign.

The announcement comes on the same day the Falcons named former quarterback Matt Ryan to the new role of president of football.

Ryan will report to team owner Arthur Blank, who announced the hiring.

Atlanta’s new general manager and head coach will report to Ryan, who is tasked with overseeing football operations. He will collaborate with team president and CEO Greg Beadles, who is in charge of the business side.

Reports: Dolphins to tab Anthony Weaver as DC

The Miami Dolphins are hiring Baltimore Ravens associate head coach/defensive line coach Anthony Weaver to be their next defensive coordinator, multiple media outlets reported on Saturday.

Weaver would be Miami’s third defensive coordinator in three seasons under head coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins fired Josh Boyer at the end of the 2022 season and parted ways with Vic Fangio last month.

Miami’s defense, banged-up all season, finished the 2023 campaign 10th in yards allowed and 22nd in scoring under Fangio.

Weaver, who turns 44 in August, has been with Baltimore since 2021, when he was the defensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Before his time with the Ravens, Weaver spent five seasons with the Houston Texans (2016-20) as their defensive line coach, adding the title of defensive coordinator for the 2020 campaign. He was the Cleveland Browns’ D-line coach from 2014-15.

Weaver has also made pit stops with the New York Jets (2012) and Buffalo Bills (2013). He worked at Florida and North Texas before moving up to the NFL.

Falcons interview Ejiro Evero, Anthony Weaver for head-coaching job

The Atlanta Falcons conducted virtual interviews with Ejiro Evero and Anthony Weaver on Sunday as they continue to search for a new head coach.

Evero, 43, spent this past season as the Carolina Panthers’ defensive coordinator after holding the same role with the Denver Broncos during the 2022 campaign.

At the NFL level, Evero has also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2007-09), San Francisco 49ers (2011-15), Green Bay Packers (2016) and Los Angeles Rams (2017-21) working mostly on the defensive side of the ball.

Weaver, 43, has been with the Baltimore Ravens as their associate head coach and defensive line coach since the 2022 season. He went to Baltimore in 2021, when he was the defensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Before his time with the Ravens, Weaver spent five seasons with the Houston Texans (2016-20) as their defensive line coach, adding the title of defensive coordinator for the 2020 campaign. He was the Cleveland Browns’ D-line coach from 2014-15.

Atlanta has now interviewed five potential suitors to take over for Arthur Smith, who was fired late last Sunday. Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks all virtually met with the Falcons before Evero and Weaver.

Smith, 41, went 21-30 in his three seasons as head coach. Atlanta never won a playoff game under his tenure.
