Patriots agree to deal with RB Antonio Gibson, release WR

Running back Antonio Gibson agreed to a three-year, $11.25 million deal with the New England Patriots, according to reports on Monday.

Gibson, a wide receiver at Memphis, had 172 catches for 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns and 642 carries for 2,643 yards and 22 touchdowns with the Washington Commanders.

Patriots running backs were first (Ezekiel Elliott) and fourth (Rhamondre Stevenson) on the team in receptions in 2023. Elliott had 51 receptions and two touchdowns.

Gibson is likely to pair with Stevenson in a new-look offense replacing multiple starters.

Wide receiver DeVante Parker, sixth on the team with 33 receptions in 2023, was informed he’ll be released on Wednesday, ESPN and NFL network reported on Monday.

Parker, 31, has 402 receptions for 5,660 yards and 27 touchdowns since being drafted by the Miami Dolphins 14th overall in 2015.

Commanders place RB Antonio Gibson on IR

Washington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson was placed on injured reserve on Thursday.

Gibson sat out last Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday due to foot and knee injuries. He sustained those injuries in the Commanders’ 37-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 24.

Washington (7-8-1) is eliminated from postseason contention. The Commanders conclude their season against the visiting Dallas Cowboys (12-4) on Sunday.

Gibson, 24, began the season as the team’s starting running back before rookie Brian Robinson assumed the role.

Gibson totaled 546 yards rushing and three touchdowns to go along with 46 catches for 353 yards and two scores in 15 games (six starts) this season.

Also on Thursday, the Commanders signed Jaret Patterson off the practice squad and added fellow running back Reggie Bonnafon to the practice squad.

Patterson, 23, appeared in two games as a temporary elevation this season. He had 68 carries for 266 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games last season

Washington RB Antonio Gibson (shin) active vs. Packers

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson is listed as active against the host Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Gibson, who is dealing with a shin injury, was heading into the game with a questionable designation for the fourth straight week.

Despite the injury, Gibson has played in all six games for Washington (2-4). He leads the team in carries (89), rushing yards (357) and rushing touchdowns (three) and also has 12 catches for 119 yards and a score.

Washington wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring), cornerback William Jackson III (knee), defensive end Shaka Toney (illness), guard Brandon Scherff (knee) and tackle Samuel Cosmi (ankle) were listed as inactive.

Washington will attempt to snap a two-game losing skid on Sunday against Green Bay (5-1), which ruled out cornerback Kevin King, safety Vernon Scott, offensive tackle Dennis Kelly, defensive lineman Jack Heflin and linebacker Preston Smith.

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson is listed as questionable to face the host Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Gibson was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice due to his shin injury. He received a questionable designation heading into a game for the fourth straight week.

WFT’s Terry McLaurin, Antonio Gibson active vs. Chiefs

Washington Football Team wide receiver Terry McLaurin and running back Antonio Gibson are active for Sunday’s game against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs.

McLaurin’s availability was in question after he sat out Friday’s practice with a hamstring injury. He leads the team in catches (29), receiving yards (400) and receiving touchdowns (three) this season.

Gibson, who was listed as questionable due to a calf injury, has rushed 79 times for 313 yards and three touchdowns for Washington (2-3).

While McLaurin and Gibson are set to play on Sunday, wide receivers Curtis Samuel (ankle) and Cam Sims (hamstring), offensive lineman Brandon Scherff (knee) and Sam Cosmi (ankle), tight end Jace Sternberger and cornerback Corn Elder were ruled as inactive for the contest.

Guard Wes Schweitzer and tackle Cornelius Lucas are expected to draw the start on the right side of the line for Washington.

Defensive end Chris Jones, cornerback Charvarius Ward, tight end Blake Bell and offensive linemen Austin Blythe, Prince Tega Wanogho and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif have been ruled inactive for the Chiefs (2-3).

Washington running back Antonio Gibson missed practice Thursday with a shin injury.

Gibson, 23, didn’t show up on the team’s injury report Wednesday.

Gibson is top 10 in rushing among running backs, with 190 yards through three games. He has averaged 4.2 yards per carry and also has 95 yards receiving with a touchdown.

Gibson was the team’s leading rusher in 2020 as a rookie with 795 yards.

Washington (1-2) travels to Atlanta to play the Falcons (1-2) on Sunday.

Washington RB Gibson injures toe vs. Steelers

Washington Football Team rookie running back Antonio Gibson sustained a toe injury during the first quarter of Monday’s game against the host Pittsburgh Steelers.

Gibson was considered doubtful to return after injuring his big toe on his right foot.

He carried the ball twice for 14 yards before leaving the game.

Gibson entered the game leading the team in carries (139), rushing yards (645) and rushing touchdowns (11).
