Former NE Patriot Stefon Diggs exits the Dedham District Courthouse on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, after being acquitted in his trial.

Stefon Diggs not guilty of strangling or assaulting his private chef

Veteran NFL receiver Stefon Diggs was found not guilty of strangling or assaulting his private chef by a jury on Tuesday afternoon in Dedham (Mass.) District Court.

Deliberations took 90 minutes before the six-person jury rendered the verdict.

Diggs pleaded not guilty in February to felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery stemming from an incident on Dec. 2 at Diggs’ home in Dedham, approximately 20 minutes southwest of Boston.

Diggs was a member of the New England Patriots when the incident happened before being released in March.

His live-in personal chef, Jamila Adams, testified Monday that Diggs slapped and choked her during an argument regarding pay. Adams began cooking for Diggs in July 2025 for $2,000 per week.

Diggs, who is now a free agent, maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal, and one of his attorneys said the allegations were motivated by the financial dispute. His attorney also said Adams was upset she wasn’t invited to go on a trip to Miami.

Defense attorney Andrew Kettlewell said during closing arguments that prosecutors didn’t present “a single shred of credible evidence” that an assault occurred.

Adams testified that she initially became friends with Diggs and began having sexual relations with him before starting to work for him in 2025.

Diggs faced up to five years in prison on the strangulation charge and 2 1/2 years on the assault charge.

The 32-year-old Diggs was released by New England after the first season of a three-year, $63.5 million contract. He helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl, where they lost 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks.

Diggs caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games last season to notch his seventh 1,000-yard season. But in the postseason, he had just 110 yards and a touchdown on 14 receptions over four games.

He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection with the Buffalo Bills from 2020-23.

Diggs played five seasons for Minnesota Vikings before joining the Bills. He also played for the Houston Texans in 2024 before signing with the Patriots and has 942 catches for 11,504 yards and 74 touchdowns in 161 games (153 starts).

Pats DT Christian Barmore facing domestic assault charge

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore is facing a misdemeanor domestic assault charge from an alleged incident on Aug. 8 in Mansfield, Mass.

Barmore, 26, was in a relationship with the alleged victim, according to court documents revealed Wednesday in a report from WCVB TV in Boston.

The woman told police that she tried to leave the house after an argument and Barmore “grabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor,” according to Attleborough District Court documents.

A criminal complaint was issued on Dec. 16 and Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 3.

The Patriots released a statement but did not address whether Barmore will participate in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the visiting Miami Dolphins.

“The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August,” the statement read. “The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Barmore is the second Patriots player this week to make headlines off the field. News broke Tuesday that wide receiver Stefon Diggs is facing a felony charge of strangulation for an alleged incident on Dec. 2.

Barmore has played in all 16 games (15 starts) this season for the AFC East champion Patriots (13-3), recording one sack with 26 tackles and nine quarterback hits. He was a second-round draft pick by New England in 2021.

Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones pleads not guilty in officer assault case

Former NFL defensive back Adam “Pacman” Jones pleaded not guilty to multiple charges on Wednesday following his weekend arrest, according to multiple reports.

Accused of assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and alcohol intoxication in a public place, Jones was arrested in Kentucky on Saturday morning.

Jones’ lawyer addressed the charges Wednesday, accusing the police and media of embellishing the facts of the case.

“The recent arrest of Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones in Covington, Kentucky, is yet another example of overzealous policing and the systemic issues that plague our justice system,” attorney Pete Schaefer said. “Adam did nothing wrong other than exercise his right to ask why he was being detained. … Initially, officers claimed he was being arrested for assault and then shifted to public intoxication, which, in itself, is not a crime in many jurisdictions unless it leads to dangerous behavior, and finally settled on disorderly conduct — simply for asking why he was being detained.

“This pattern of escalating and inconsistent charges is a clear abuse of authority and demonstrates a troubling trend of police officers prioritizing their own discretion over constitutional rights.”

Schaefer also suggested his client has received unfair treatment since his detention.

“Adam, like every American, is innocent until proven guilty. Yet, once again, his past is being weaponized against him in the court of public opinion, while the officers involved face no scrutiny for their conduct. … Adam deserves fairness, not another headline designed to paint him as a villain for clicks.”

Arrested several times since his playing days, Jones, 41, was most recently arrested for alleged public intoxication, assault of a police officer and evading arrest following the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight at AT&T Stadium on Nov. 15, 2024.

Jones played 146 career games over 12 seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2005-06), Dallas Cowboys (2008), Cincinnati Bengals (2010-17) and Denver Broncos (2018).

He was a First-Team All-Pro in 2014, a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and a member of the NFL All-Rookie Team in 2005. The punt return specialist retired from the NFL in 2019.

Patriots S Jabrill Peppers acquitted of assault, battery

New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was acquitted in his assault and battery trial on Friday in Boston.

Peppers was accused of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and testified in the trial Thursday and Friday. He said on the stand that his accuser had fabricated her claims and claimed “she was trying to do all this to mess up my career.”

A woman had alleged Peppers grabbed her, slammed her against a wall and choked her at an apartment in Braintree, Mass. Part of Peppers’ defense involved showing video from the night of the incident showing him asking her repeatedly to leave his home.

The accuser was cross-examined on Thursday, when the extent of her injuries was questioned. She had also filed a civil suit seeking as much as $9.5 million from Peppers, which Peppers’ attorney Marc Brofsky brought back up in court.

The jury revealed their verdict of not guilty on Friday.

“I had to be quiet for three months,” Peppers told reporters in a video posted by WCVB outside the courthouse. “This was all I could think about. This was the first time in my life where football wasn’t the most important thing on my mind. I had to just sit through everybody pouring dirt on my name. Everybody, for the most part, actually thinking that I did these things. But, to me, crimes against children and women are the most egregious things that you could do. And to be accused of that, it just hurt.”

Peppers pled guilty to possession of cocaine on Thursday ahead of the domestic violence trial. Per the Boston Globe, that charge was “continued without finding” and will be dropped if he remains out of trouble for the next four months.

Peppers, 29, missed seven games in the 2024 season while on the commissioner’s exempt list. He returned in December and played two games before multiple injuries sidelined him. The starting safety appeared in just six games in his eighth NFL season.

Two women sue K Brandon McManus, alleging sexual assault

Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus has been accused of sexually assaulting two women on a team flight last year.

McManus and the Jaguars are named in a lawsuit by women identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II, filed last Friday in Duval County, where Jacksonville is located.

The women said the Jaguars did not provide a safe environment for staff on the flight, which took the team to London for consecutive games last fall.

They allege McManus of rubbing and grinding against them during the flight. Jane Doe I said McManus tried to kiss her and Jane Doe II said McManus “smirked and walked away” after she confronted him about grinding against her.

McManus and his attorney have yet to respond to the lawsuit, first reported by ESPN. The Jaguars declined to comment about the lawsuit, which is seeking more than $1 million in damages and a jury trial.

McManus was not re-signed by Jacksonville this offseason and has since joined the Washington Commanders on a one-year, $3.6 million contract.

“Earlier today, we were made aware of the civil lawsuit filed on May 24 against Brandon McManus,” the Commanders said in a statement. “We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter. We have been in communication with the League Office and Brandon’s representation, and will reserve further comment at this time.”

McManus, 32, spent the first nine years of his 10-year NFL career with the Denver Broncos and signed with the Jaguars in May 2023.

Reports: Chiefs’ Rashee Rice suspect in alleged assault in Dallas

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is connected to another police investigation in Dallas, this time an alleged assault, WFAA and the Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday.

Police view Rice as a suspect in an incident that took place outside a nightclub early Monday morning, according to the reports. A man allegedly hit a photographer, who was then taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rice’s attorney declined comment to the Morning News, and no charges were filed as of Tuesday evening.

The wide receiver, who grew up in the Dallas area and played for SMU, was already in trouble in the city for his connection to a six-car crash on March 30. Rice turned himself in to police several days later and faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury.

An arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Morning News showed that Rice was driving 119 mph before the accident. A friend and former SMU teammate, Teddy Knox, was traveling 116 mph in a separate car, and he faces the same charges as Rice.

Seven people were left with injuries, including at least one woman who sustained “serious bodily injury” and another who was stranded on the highway with her 4-year-old son for about five hours after the crash.

On April 3, Rice said he took “full responsibility” for his actions related to the crash.

Report: Ex-NFL star Terrell Suggs facing assault charge

Former NFL star Terrell Suggs was arrested on an assault charge Tuesday night in Arizona, TMZ Sports reported.

Suggs, 41, was booked into the Maricopa County jail on one count of assault and one count of offense against public order, a spokesperson for the Scottsdale Police Department told TMZ Sports. He was later released.

The charges reportedly are related to an incident on March 10, but no further details were available Wednesday morning.

Suggs, who played college football at Arizona State, was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2003 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

His Hall of Fame-caliber numbers include 139 sacks, 37 forced fumbles, 15 fumble recoveries, seven interceptions and 895 tackles across 244 games (226 starts) with the Baltimore Ravens (2003-18), Arizona Cardinals (2019) and Kansas City Chiefs (2019).

A seven-time Pro Bowl selection, Suggs was a first-round pick (10th overall) by Baltimore in 2003 and won Super Bowl championships with the Ravens (SB XLVII) and Chiefs (SB LIV).

Robert Quinn arrested, charged with hit-and-run, assault

Former Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Quinn was arrested in South Carolina on Friday on hit-and-run and assault charges.

Quinn, currently a free agent, is accused of hitting four vehicles with his pickup truck and slapping a woman across the face, as first reported by TMZ Sports.

The alleged incident happened Tuesday in Summerville, S.C. Quinn turned himself in on Friday and was granted bond for a total of seven charges.

Quinn faces one charge of hit-and-run of an attended vehicle, one charge of third-degree assault and battery, four charges of hit-and-run property damage and one charge of striking a highway fixture.

Police incident reports said that Quinn hit a vehicle parked in a driveway that a woman was sitting inside. She approached Quinn, to which Quinn allegedly said he would buy her a beer, then took her by the shoulders, said “Listen to me” and struck her across the face open-handed.

The woman, Lisa Ball, spoke to local news outlet Live 5 News WCSC.

“He was very belligerent,” Ball said. “He kept saying, ‘Oh, don’t worry about it, I’ll buy you new cars, I’ll buy you new car, let’s go to the dealership.’ I told him to get off my property and he proceeded to put his hands on me and slap me not once, but twice.”

Quinn began last season with the Chicago Bears before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 26 for a fourth-round draft pick. Quinn played seven regular-season games for Chicago and six for Philadelphia, and he saw sparse playing time on the Eagles’ playoff run that culminated in a Super Bowl loss to Kansas City.

Quinn, 33, became a free agent after last season because he and the Eagles mutually agreed to void the final two years of his prior contract.

A first-round draft pick by the then-St. Louis Rams in 2011, Quinn has spent 12 seasons in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl in 2013, 2014 and 2021. He racked up 18.5 sacks for the Bears in 2021, a half-sack off his career high in 2013.

Report: Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. a suspect in assault

Newly signed Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been named as a suspect in an assault investigation in Los Angeles, TMZ Sports reported Friday.

According to the report, a woman told police that Beckham put his hand around her neck at local hotspot Delilah several weeks ago and grabbed her throat with “light pressure.”

Beckham and the woman remained at the club the rest of the night without further incident, and the woman contacted police a few days later, per the report.

A representative for Beckham told TMZ Sports that they are unaware of any investigation and that the wideout vehemently denies doing anything wrong.

“We were contacted about an investigation and reviewed the videos, the claim is false,” John Terzian, owner of Delilah, told TMZ. “There is no evidence of this person even being in the area where she claims the incident occurred.”

The report comes less than two weeks after the three-time Pro Bowl wideout signed a $15 million deal with the Ravens for the 2023 season.

Beckham, 30, missed the 2022 season after tearing his left ACL during the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl LVI win against the Cincinnati Bengals on Feb. 13, 2022.

Beckham has 531 catches for 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns in 96 career games (91 starts) with the New York Giants (2014-18), Cleveland Browns (2019-21) and Rams. He exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in five of his first six seasons.
