Browns activate WR Cedric Tillman (hamstring) from IR

Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman has been activated from injured reserve and is expected to be available to play Sunday when Cleveland visits the New York Jets.

Tillman started the first four games at wide receiver this season before being placed on IR after injuring his hamstring in a 34-10 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sept. 28.

The 25-year-old had 11 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns in his four games. In his third season with the Browns (2-6), he has 61 receptions for 669 yards and five TDs over 29 games (13 starts).

The Browns also signed safety Christopher Edmonds to the active roster Saturday. Edmonds originally signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in 2024 after a career at Arizona State, appearing in two games last season for the Browns.

Browns WRs Cedric Tillman, DeAndre Carter out for Week 5

Cleveland Browns wide receivers Cedric Tillman and DeAndre Carter both could miss multiple weeks with injuries, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday.

Tillman, who has started all four games at wide receiver this season, is dealing with a hamstring injury, while Carter, the team’s primary return man, has a knee injury.

Both players are at least ruled out through Sunday’s game in England against the Minnesota Vikings, according to Stefanski.

Tillman, 25, has 11 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns this season. In three seasons with the Browns, he has 61 receptions for 669 yards and five TDs over 29 games (13 starts).

Carter, 32, has not played on offense this season. He has 11 kickoff returns for 274 yards, while also making six punt returns. In eight NFL seasons with seven different teams, he has 117 receptions for 1,331 yards and six TDs in 111 games (21 starts). He had a kickoff return for a touchdown in 2021 with the Washington Commanders.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman exits with apparent head injury

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman exited Thursday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the third quarter due to an apparent head injury.

Tillman hauled in a 4-yard reception on the final play of the third, but he took a big hit to the side of the head near the end of the play. Since Cleveland was facing a third-and-5, Tillman shrugged off the hit to try and get a first down, but he still came up short.

When Tillman tried to stand up after he was tackled, his legs wobbled and he lost his balance, and team trainers quickly took him into the blue medical tent.

Tillman had two catches for 28 yards prior to his departure. He also lost a fumble.

Entering Thursday, the 24-year-old Tillman had 27 catches for 311 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games (five starts) this season.

Browns CB Denzel Ward injures knee, questionable vs. Texans

Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward sustained a knee injury in practice Thursday and is questionable for Saturday’s wild-card game against the Houston Texans, head coach Kevin Stefanski said.

Ward, a Pro Bowl selection for the third time this season, was limited in practice, the coach said.

On the regular season, Ward, 26, appeared in 13 games (11 starts) and tallied 34 tackles, 11 pass breakups, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

Stefanski said safety Grant Delpit, who is battling a groin injury, has been ruled out. The Browns designated him to return from injured reserve on Thursday.

Also out against Houston are wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) and kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring).

Tennessee WR Cedric Tillman declares for draft

Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman declared for the 2023 NFL Draft on Monday and opted out of playing in the Orange Bowl.

Tillman’s season was limited by an ankle injury, but he remains the No. 36 overall draft prospect by ESPN. He posted his announcement on Twitter.

“Though I battled through injury this season, I am grateful I returned for my 2022 senior year, and now I turn my attention to the next level,” Tillman wrote, in part.

Tillman sustained the injury in Week 3 against Akron. He underwent tightrope surgery on the ankle in late September and returned Oct. 29 for the Kentucky game.

Tillman finished the season with 37 catches for 417 yards and three touchdowns in just six games. However, in 2021 he became Tennessee’s first 1,000-yard receiver since 2012. The 6-foot-3 Tillman finishes his career in Knoxville with 109 receptions for 1,622 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Tennessee (10-2) plays Clemson (11-2) in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30.

Tennessee WR Cedric Tillman (ankle) out vs. LSU

Tennessee star wide receiver Cedric Tillman won’t play Saturday against LSU in a key Southeastern Conference matchup because he is still recovering from a high ankle sprain, according to ESPN.

The outlet said Tillman did not make the trip to Baton Rouge, La., for the afternoon showdown between the eighth-ranked Volunteers (4-0, 1-0) and the No. 25 Tigers (4-1, 2-0).

Tillman underwent ankle surgery on Sept. 20 and has had limited physical activity with the team since then, ESPN reported, adding that the Vols are increasing his activity with the hope of him playing next Saturday against top-ranked Alabama.

Tillman missed Tennessee’s 38-33 win over then-No. 20 Florida on Sept. 24 because of his injury.

A preseason All-SEC receiver, Tillman has caught 17 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown in three appearances this season. He posted 64 receptions for 1,081 yards and 12 TDs a year ago and earned All-SEC second-team honors.

ESPN also reported Saturday that LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell will miss Saturday’s game after being hospitalized for dehydration on Friday evening.

Campbell, a true freshman, has started all five games for the Tigers this season.
