Giants part ways with veteran WR Cole Beasley

The New York Giants parted ways with wide receiver Cole Beasley on Friday, coach Brian Daboll confirmed.

The 34-year-old veteran had requested his release from the practice squad, according to NFL Network.

Beasley joined the Giants ahead of training camp and began the season on injured reserve with a quad injury.

“Got a lot of respect for Cole,” Daboll said. “Just decided that — kind of both parties had a good conversation, and he won’t be on the practice squad.”

Beasley was designated for return from IR on Oct. 10 but never played a snap for New York.

He has 556 catches for 5,744 yards and 34 touchdowns in 153 games (51 starts) with the Dallas Cowboys (2012-18), Buffalo Bills (2019-22) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022).

Beasley split last season with the Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, catching six passes in four games.

Reports: Bills bringing back WR Cole Beasley

Slot receiver Cole Beasley is back with the Buffalo Bills, agreeing to join the practice squad on Tuesday, according to reports.

Beasley caught 82 passes with Buffalo in both 2020 and 2021 but was released by the Bills in March to save $6.1 million against the salary cap. He briefly joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and caught four passes for 17 yards in two games before abruptly retiring on Oct. 5.

Beasley said at the time he was ready to be a “full time dad,” and Buccaneers coaches said they were caught by surprise.

In 11 NFL seasons, he has 554 receptions for 5,726 yards and 34 touchdowns in 151 games (50 starts) with the Dallas Cowboys (2012-18), Buffalo Bills (2019-21) and Buccaneers.

Bucs WR Cole Beasley retires to be with family

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Cole Beasley is retiring to spend more time with his family.

The 11-year NFL veteran’s agents Joel and Justin Turner confirmed the news Wednesday with NFL Network.

Beasley, 33, signed with the Bucs two weeks ago and appeared in two games, catching four passes from Tom Brady for 17 yards.

“He is ready to be with his family after playing in 11 seasons and it’s time to be a full time dad and husband,” his agents told NFL Network.

Beasley retires with 554 receptions for 5,726 yards and 34 touchdowns in 151 games (50 starts) with the Dallas Cowboys (2012-18), Buffalo Bills (2019-21) and Buccaneers.

Report: Bills WR Cole Beasley gets OK to explore trade

The Buffalo Bills have granted wide receiver Cole Beasley permission to seek a trade, NFL Network reported Friday.

General manager Brandon Beane told the network that Beasley requested permission, but that “no door has been closed” to a potential return to Buffalo in 2022.

Beasley had a tough year in 2021, both on the field and off. His staunch stand against the COVID-19 vaccine brought criticism, and his production declined.

The 32-year-old caught 82 passes in each of the past two seasons, but with different results. In 15 games in 2020, he had 967 receiving yards, good for 11.8 yards per catch, with four touchdowns. In 16 games in 2021, those numbers fell to 693 yards, 8.5 yards per catch and one touchdown.

Stefon Diggs is established as the No. 1 receiver in Buffalo and had 103 receptions for 1,225 yards with 10 touchdowns last season. But quarterback Josh Allen has a variety of weapons, including tight end Dawson Knox and receiver Gabriel Davis, who combined for more than 1,100 yards in receptions and 15 touchdowns.

Beasley is entering the final season of a four-year, $29 million deal he signed in 2019.

Bills activate WR Cole Beasley, 3 others from COVID list

The Buffalo Bills activated wide receiver Cole Beasley and three other players from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.

Beasley, fellow wideout Gabriel Davis, left guard Jon Feliciano and defensive end AJ Epenesa cleared health and safety protocols in time for Sunday’s game between the Bills (9-6) and visiting Atlanta Falcons (7-8).

All four players missed the 33-21 victory against the host New England Patriots in Week 16.

Beasley, who has been outspoken against the NFL’s vaccine mandate, tested positive on Dec. 21. He has reportedly racked up more than $100,000 in fines this season for violating the league’s COVID-19 protocols.

Beasley, 32, has 76 catches for 640 yards and one touchdown in 14 games this season.

Davis, 22, has 29 receptions for 470 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games.

Feliciano, 29, has started six of his seven games this season.

Epenesa, 23, has appeared in 12 games and registered 11 tackles and eight quarterback hits.

Report: Bills WR Cole Beasley racks up $100K in fines over COVID violations

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley has accumulated about $100,000 in fines for violating the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols this season, ESPN reported Sunday.

One of the fines, for $14,600, was assessed in August when NFL officials were at the Bills’ training facility and spotted Beasley not wearing a mask.

Beasley, 32, has been outspoken in his views on the COVID-19 vaccination and is unvaccinated. He tested positive for the virus on Tuesday and must be away from the team at least 10 days.

As a result, he isn’t playing in Sunday’s key AFC East game between the Bills (8-5) and host New England Patriots (9-6).

Beasley won’t lose money for this game, though. Under rules agreed to between the league and the players association, unvaccinated players are not penalized their game check if they miss a game because of a positive COVID-19 test.

He is in the third season of a four-year, $29 million deal he signed with Buffalo in March 2019.

Beasley has 76 receptions, second on the team to Stefon Diggs, for 640 yards and a touchdown this season. He has 544 career catches for 5,656 yards and 34 touchdowns in 147 games with the Dallas Cowboys (2012-18) and Bills.

Bills WR Gabriel Davis, OL Cody Ford added to COVID list

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis and offensive lineman Cody Ford were added to the reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday.

Per ESPN, Davis is unvaccinated and will sit out Sunday’s key AFC East game against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. He would be the second Bills wideout to miss the contest for that reason, as Cole Beasley was placed on the list on Tuesday.

Special teams coordinator Heath Farwell and defensive line coach Eric Washington also were added to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Beasley, outspoken against the NFL’s vaccine mandate, is second to Stefon Diggs on the team in both catches (76) and receiving yards (640). Beasley has just one touchdown reception, however.

Davis, 22, has six touchdowns among 29 catches and is averaging a team-leading 16.2 yards per reception this season.

Fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders practiced fully on Thursday in his bid to return to the team. He missed last week’s game with a knee injury.

Ford, 24, has started 29 of the 36 games in which he has played in his career, including seven of 13 this season.

Bills WR Cole Beasley deletes his Twitter account

Controversial Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley deleted his Twitter account.

The move came in the hours since the Bills beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Beasley, 32, used the account to share his opposition to the NFL’s vaccination policies on his now-deleted @Bease11 handle and recently complained that Bills’ fans were booing him for his anti-vaccination stance.

He recently told unvaccinated fans via social media that he would pick up the tab if they could find tickets to a road game they can attend, after it was announced that the Bills’ Highmark Stadium would require proof of vaccinations for entry.

The Bills are currently one of six teams — the Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Rams and Chargers are the others — that play in jurisdictions with advanced COVID-19 protocols that can include either proof of vaccinations or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours. The order from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health took effect last Thursday.

Beasley played only 22 snaps in the Bills’ 38-20 win against the Chiefs, recording one catch for 5 yards.

He has 26 receptions for 215 yards this season, his third since signing with Buffalo (4-1) in 2019.
