Texans star WR Nico Collins (hamstring) will return vs. Cowboys

Texans standout receiver Nico Collins indicated Friday that he will be back in the lineup when Houston visits the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.

Collins has missed the past five games with a hamstring injury. He came off injured reserve last week but still missed Houston’s 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Collins was a limited practice on Thursday before being a full participant on Friday.

“Just happy to be feeling good and happy to be able to have the opportunity to play this week and just continue to pick back up where I left off,” Collins told reporters Friday.

Collins was off to a stellar start with three 100-yard outings over the first four games before being injured in Week 5 during a victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Collins, 25, was the NFL’s leading receiver at the time of the injury. He recorded 32 catches for 567 yards and three touchdowns in five games.

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has struggled in recent weeks so it’s no surprise he is happy that Collins will be on the field.

“It is huge. I am very excited to have my guy back,” Stroud said. “I am just happy for him to be back with the team, be a part of the locker room again. They are in solitude, when players are injured, they are on their own. So, I am glad he is just able to be around the guys again and be able to do the sport that he loves to play.”

Collins, in his fourth campaign, set career-highs in 2023 with 80 receptions, 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.

Texans activate WR Nico Collins (hamstring) off IR

The Houston Texans activated big-play receiver Nico Collins from injured reserve Saturday and he will play in Sunday night’s clash against the Detroit Lions.

Collins has missed the past four games due to a hamstring injury sustained in Week 5. He was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report.

Collins was placed on IR on Oct. 9, three days after he injured his hamstring making a 67-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter of the Texans’ 23-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Collins, 25, was the NFL’s leading receiver at the time of the injury. He recorded 32 catches for 567 yards and three touchdowns in five games.

Houston also activated veteran defensive end Jerry Hughes (hip) off IR. Hughes has 70 career sacks in 222 games (152 starts) with the Indianapolis Colts (2010-12), Buffalo Bills (2013-21) and Texans.

Texans place NFL’s leading receiver Nico Collins on IR

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is out at least four games with a hamstring injury after being placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.

Collins, the NFL’s leading receiver with 567 yards in 2024, also is tied for third in the league with 32 catches through five games.

He left the Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills immediately after hauling in a 67-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud in the first quarter. Collins had 78 receiving yards in the game, his seventh consecutive regular-season game with at least 75 yards.

The Texans (4-1) will turn to Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell to fill the void starting Sunday at New England (1-4). Diggs has 31 receptions this season, his first in Houston after starring for the Bills.

Dell had four catches for 38 yards last week. He totaled 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns last season as a rookie.

The Texans signed tight end Teagan Quitoriano to the active roster and added former Pitt wide receiver Jared Wayne to the practice squad.

Patriots TE Hunter Henry, Bengals OL La’el Collins injured

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry exited Saturday’s game against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals early in the first quarter with a knee injury.

Also on Saturday, Bengals offensive tackle La’el Collins exited late in the first quarter with an apparent leg injury.

Henry collided with fellow tight end Jonnu Smith on New England’s first offensive series of the game and hobbled off the field.

He was taken to the locker room and the team said he is questionable to return.

Entering Saturday, Henry had 30 receptions for 415 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games this season. He had not yet been targeted on Saturday.

Smith is the only other active tight end on New England’s depth chart.

Henry, 28, has 276 career catches for 3,340 yards and 32 touchdowns in 87 games with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers (2016-20) and Patriots.

Collins, 29, appeared to get injured after being wrapped up by Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux. Players from both sides motioned to the sideline to get the attention of team trainers, who quickly came out to tend to Collins.

Collins was able to walk off the field, but ESPN reported shortly after that he was carted to the locker room.

Entering Saturday, Collins had started all 14 of the Bengals’ games this season. He is in his first season with Cincinnati after spending the first six of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.

Clemson WR Beaux Collins (shoulder) done for season

Clemson receiver Beaux Collins will miss the rest of the season due to a right shoulder injury and likely will undergo surgery next week, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said on Tuesday.

Collins missed two games with a separated shoulder before returning to play last Saturday in a 31-30 loss to South Carolina. He reinjured the shoulder in the first half and later returned to the sideline with his arm in a sling.

Collins will miss Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship game between the No. 10 Tigers and No. 24 North Carolina and the team’s bowl game.

“I really appreciate Beaux trying to go,” Swinney said on Tuesday. “He really wanted to try to finish. We were hoping he would make it through the season and then we’d get it fixed, but it just wasn’t meant to be. He gave it all he could. We’ll probably do surgery on him next week.”

Collins had two catches for 65 yards, including a long of 59, against the Gamecocks.

Overall, Collins had 22 catches for 373 yards and a team-leading five touchdown receptions this season.

Cut by Commanders, Landon Collins could reunite with Giants

Former Commanders safety Landon Collins is set for a free-agent visit and workout with his other old team on Monday.

Collins said he was scheduled to visit the New York Giants.

The Giants have been hit hard by injuries in the secondary and Collins might be a turnkey fill-in as a hybrid safety and linebacker, which became a need when strong safety Julian Love (concussion) left Sunday’s game against the Bears.

Drafted 33rd overall out of Alabama by the Giants in 2015, Collins was a three-time Pro Bowl selection in New York.

Collins, 28, joined Washington at the end of his rookie contract in 2018 free agency with a six-year, $84 million contract.

He was released in final roster cuts by the Commanders in September.

In three seasons with the Commanders, Collins battled injuries and played in 38 total games. He hasn’t played a full season since 2016.

Collins has 676 career tackles with 11 interceptions, 10 sacks and seven forced fumbles in 94 games.

Backup lineman Trey Hill also appeared to suffer an injury Thursday.

Further, new addition La’el Collins (back) is still not a full participant in camp and missed Wednesday’s practice for personal reasons.

Carman, 22, played in 17 games (six starts) for the Bengals in 2021, his rookie season. He was selected in the second round of the 2021 draft. He’s listed atop the depth chart at left guard but is being challenged by rookie Cordell Volson for the starting nod.

Prince, 25, went down Thursday with an apparent arm injury. He played in 15 games (four starts) in 2021.

Collins signed a three-year contract worth $21 million with Cincinnati in March after six seasons in Dallas.

Bengals activate OT La’el Collins

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle La’el Collins was activated from the non-football injury list and joined the team on the practice field Wednesday.

Collins, 29, joined the Bengals after being released by the Dallas Cowboys in March.

He signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of LSU and played right tackle and guard for the Cowboys.

But he was suspended five games for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy in 2021 and lost his starting job at right tackle.

Collins joined the Bengals as a right tackle in March, signing a three-year deal.
