Adrian Peterson asleep at wheel before DWI arrest, per police

Adrian Peterson was found asleep at the wheel before being arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Sunday, according to court documents released Tuesday.

Peterson was released on bail from the Fort Bend County jail in Texas on Tuesday. His bond totaled $3,000 for both the DWI charge and the unlawful carrying of a weapon charge.

Sugar Land police officers reported waking up Peterson after responding to a call at a Shell gas station in the Houston suburb around 9 a.m. Sunday. They stated that they woke up Peterson, got him out of his vehicle and offered medical assistance, which was declined. Peterson allegedly said he didn’t know where he was.

The officers allege Peterson had glossy, red eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol.

Per the court report, Peterson told officers he was trying to drive home from a poker game after only having a few drinks. Officers then said they performed a sobriety test before arresting him on suspicion of DWI.

Afterward, officers reported finding a gun in Peterson’s glove box.

Peterson has now been arrested twice within the past seven months on a similar allegation. He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Minneapolis in April.

The 2012 MVP last played in the NFL in 2021. Peterson finished with 14,918 career rushing yards and 120 touchdowns on the ground across 15 seasons, the first 10 with the Minnesota Vikings.

“We removed his captain status with the opportunity to earn it back,” Pry said.

Woodson recorded 72 tackles, two sacks and an interception in 13 games (11 starts) last season.

Police in Columbia, Mo., booked Bailey at 2:46 a.m. Sunday. The 23-year-old was released on $500 bond, according to online records from the Boone County (Mo.) Sheriff’s Department.

Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Bailey had been suspended.

Britt Reid pleads guilty to felony DWI

Britt Reid, a former assistant coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and the son of head coach Andy Reid, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of driving while intoxicated and causing serious physical injury.

Reid, 37, admitted he was intoxicated on the night of Feb. 4, 2021, when he struck two cars stopped on the side of an interstate entrance ramp. The accident left 5-year-old Ariel Young with a traumatic brain injury and injured another child.

“I regret what I did. I made a huge mistake,” Reid said during the 30-minute hearing. “I apologize to the family. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone that night.”

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors will ask the judge to sentence Reid to no more than four years in prison. He faced up to seven years. His trial was scheduled to begin Sept. 26.

Circuit Court Judge Charles H. McKenzie set the sentencing hearing for Oct. 28.

Attorney Tom Porto, who’s representing the crash victims, said the families are opposed to the plea agreement.

The “victims of this crime are outraged the prosecuting attorney is not seeking the maximum sentence allowable by law,” Porto said. “The defendant is a prior offender whose actions caused a 5-year-old girl to be in a coma and seriously injured three others.”

Prosecutors in Kansas City said Reid had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.113 and was driving 83.9 mph at the time of the accident. Reid told police that he’d had two to three drinks and had also taken prescription Adderall.

Reid initially entered a not guilty plea when charges were first filed in April 2021. He had a prior DUI conviction in 2007.

In November, the Chiefs committed to providing lifetime medical care and financial assistance to Young.

Former Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid to plead guilty to DWI

Britt Reid, a former assistant coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and the son of head coach Andy Reid, plans to plead guilty to a felony charge of driving while intoxicated causing serious physical injury.

Reid is due back in circuit court next Monday, and his trial was scheduled to begin Sept. 26. A hearing notice posted Tuesday said Reid was expected to enter a guilty plea for the charge, for which he faces up to seven years in prison.

The charge stems from an incident on Feb. 4, 2021, days before the Chiefs played in Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reid, Kansas City’s linebackers coach at the time, was allegedly driving drunk when he struck two cars stopped on the side of an interstate entrance ramp.

The accident left 5-year-old Ariel Young with a traumatic brain injury and injured another child.

Prosecutors in Kansas City said he had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.113 and was driving 83.9 mph at the time of the accident. Reid told police that he’d had two to three drinks and had also taken prescription Adderall.

Texas A&M receiver arrested on multiple charges

Wide receiver Ainias Smith, Texas A&M’s leader in receptions and touchdown catches as a junior in 2021, was arrested in the early hours Wednesday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, illegally carrying a gun, and marijuana possession of less than two ounces.

Numerous media outlets reported the arrest, which happened in College Station, Texas, where the university is located. A team captain, Smith had been listed as one of the school’s representatives during Southeastern Conference media days on Thursday.

In a statement Wednesday, the school announced that Smith has been suspended, which follows the athletics department’s policy.

Television station KBTX3 reported that Smith was stopped for speeding, and he did not pass a field sobriety test. He agreed to take a breath analysis test, and in two tests, he was below the .080 legal limit (.066 and .061).

In searching Smith’s vehicle after the arrests, police said they founded a loaded pistol, which he was carrying unlawfully, and a single, rolled joint.

Smith led the team with 47 receptions and six touchdown catches, and he was second with 509 yards receiving. In three seasons for the Aggies, he has 112 receptions for 1,321 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Smith has also returned 54 punts, including one for a touchdown, in three seasons, with an average return of 9.7 yards.

The Aggies finished the 2021 season 8-4, including 4-4 in the SEC.
