Trevor Etienne among 3 Georgia RBs listed as questionable

Georgia’s ground game remains a question mark heading into the Southeastern Conference championship game against Texas in Atlanta on Saturday, as three Bulldogs running backs are listed as questionable.

The availability of Trevor Etienne, Branson Robinson and Chauncey Bowens is uncertain per the SEC’s Friday night injury report.

Etienne sat out the past three games for the fifth-ranked Bulldogs (10-2) due to a rib injury.

Etienne is Georgia’s second-leading rusher with 477 yards and seven touchdowns on 95 carries in eight games this season. He also has 23 catches for 140 yards.

When Georgia won at then-No. 1 Texas on Oct. 19, Etienne ran 19 times for 87 yards and three TDs, while adding three receptions for 23 yards.

Robinson (25 carries, 73 yards, three touchdowns) and Bowens (16 carries, 58 yards) are the team’s fifth- and sixth-leading rushers, respectively.

Georgia defensive tackle Christen Miller, who sat out the eight-overtime victory over Georgia Tech last week because of a shoulder injury, also is listed as questionable to face the second-ranked Longhorns (11-1).

Georgia RB Trevor Etienne (rib) to sit out vs. Tennessee

Georgia leading rusher Trevor Etienne will miss the Bulldogs’ pivotal Southeastern Conference contest against No. 7 Tennessee on Saturday due to his rib injury.

No. 12 Georgia downgraded Etienne from questionable to out Thursday night on the SEC availability report.

Etienne was injured during a 34-20 win over Florida on Nov. 2. He played sparingly last week during a 28-10 loss to then-No. 16 Ole Miss before exiting.

Etienne has rushed for 477 yards and seven touchdowns and also has 23 receptions for 140 yards in eight games for Georgia (7-2, 5-2).

Freshman Nate Frazier will be the main ball carrier against the Volunteers. He is second on the team with 333 rushing yards and has scored three touchdowns on the ground.

Etienne is the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. Trevor missed the season-opening contest against Clemson due to a school suspension for an offseason arrest on DUI and reckless driving charges.

Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava remains in concussion protocol and is still listed as questionable for the contest. His status will be listed again on the SEC availability report on Friday and also on Saturday, approximately 90 minutes before kickoff.

Iamaleava sustained the head injury during the Volunteers’ 33-14 victory against Mississippi State last Saturday. He missed the second half due to the injury.

Iamaleava has passed for 1,879 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions in nine games this season. Gaston Moore is the No. 2 quarterback for the Volunteers (8-1, 5-1) and has passed for 201 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in four games.

Report: Jags RB Travis Etienne (foot) out indefinitely

Jacksonville running back Travis Etienne left the Jaguars’ road loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday due to a midfoot injury and will be sidelined indefinitely, according to ESPN.

When the rookie exited the preseason contest in the second quarter, the team announced that he was questionable to return due to a foot injury.

However, Etienne never got back on the field, finishing with one carry for 1 yard and one reception for 3 yards in Jacksonville’s 23-21 defeat. After the game, ESPN reported that Etienne was wearing a protective boot and that he was due for additional tests.

Coach Urban Meyer said postgame that the extent of Etienne’s injury was unknown.

The Jaguars (0-2) conclude the preseason Sunday with a road game against the Dallas Cowboys. Jacksonville opens the regular season on Sept. 12 on the road against the Houston Texans.

Etienne, 22, was selected by the Jaguars with the 25th overall pick in this year’s draft out of Clemson. Jacksonville used the top overall pick in the draft on his former college teammate, quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Etienne is the all-time-leading ball-carrier in Atlantic Coast Conference history after running for 4,952 yards in four seasons (55 games) at Clemson.
