Bills WR Gabe Davis to have MRI on injured knee

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis will undergo an MRI on Monday to assess the severity of his left knee injury, NFL Network reported.

The injury threatens to sideline Davis for the remainder of the playoffs, according to the report, which noted that swelling in his knee made it difficult for the Bills’ medical staff to formulate an initial diagnosis.

Davis, 26, was carted to the locker room in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 27-24 road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round. Buffalo advanced to face the Denver Broncos, the AFC’s top seed, in the divisional round on Saturday.

Davis’ knee buckled as he was hit while trying to catch a pass in triple coverage. He previously sustained a torn PCL and meniscus in the same knee in November 2024, during his lone season as a member of the Jaguars.

Davis signed with Buffalo in September as his recovery continued and played six games during the regular season, recording 12 catches for 129 yards and one touchdown. He had two catches for 14 yards against Jacksonville in the playoff opener.

A fourth-round draft pick in 2020, Davis spent his first four seasons with the Bills. In 80 career games (61 starts), he has 195 receptions for 3,098 yards and 30 scores.

Report: WR Gabe Davis rejoining Bills

Free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis is signing a contract with the Buffalo Bills, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The move will constitute a reunion for the team and Davis, who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career in Buffalo. Contract details were not disclosed.

He signed a three-year, $39 million free agent deal with Jacksonville Jaguars in March 2024.

Per ESPN, Davis will be on Buffalo’s practice squad as he works his way back from a torn meniscus sustained last season with the Jaguars. They released Davis on May 7 in a move that saw the team absorb a $20.3 million dead cap hit to be spread over two seasons.

Davis, 26, caught 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games (nine starts) last season before he was injured on Nov. 17 in a 52-6 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Davis had 163 catches for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in 64 games (47 starts) with the Bills, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of UCF.

Davis was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars after one season on May 7 in a move that will saw the team absorb a $20.3 million dead cap hit.

The Steelers also shipped wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on May 7 in exchange for draft-pick compensation.

Going to Dallas along with Pickens is a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, while the Steelers received a third-round selection in 2026 and a fifth-round pick in 2027.

The Steelers still are awaiting an answer from free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers as to whether he will sign with Pittsburgh.

Report: Jags WR Gabe Davis suffered meniscus tear

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabriel Davis likely suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee during Sunday’s game, NFL Network reported Monday.

Davis is expected to undergo surgery, during which doctors will determine whether to do a full repair or trim, per the report. A full repair would end Davis’ season. He left the locker room Sunday on crutches with his left leg in a brace.

Davis had one catch for three yards in the Jags’ 52-6 loss to the Lions on Sunday.

Davis, 25, has 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games (nine starts) this season, his first in Jacksonville.

The Jags, losers of four straight, head into their bye week at 2-9 amid reports that head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke could be fired.

Bills WR Gabe Davis (ankle) sits out practice

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis did not participate in practice on Thursday.

Davis, who was listed as limited in practice on Wednesday, has been dealing with an ankle injury he sustained in the Bills’ season opener. He sat out Buffalo’s 41-7 romp over the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 19 before returning for Sunday’s 21-19 setback to the Miami Dolphins.

Davis, 23, has seven catches for 125 yards and a touchdown this season for the Bills (2-1)

Slot receiver Isaiah McKenzie likely will see even more work alongside star Stefon Diggs if Davis sits out Sunday’s game against the host Baltimore Ravens (2-1).

Fellow wide receiver Jake Kumerow (ankle), defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (hamstring) and cornerback Christian Benford (hand) also did not practice for the second straight day on Thursday.
