Ndamukong Suh, Aaron Donald, Mark Ingram among 2026 Hall of Fame class

Star defensive players Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald, former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and wideout Marvin Harrison are part of the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame Class, announced by the National Football Foundation and the Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

Running back Garrison Hearst, safety Eric Weddle and coach Chris Petersen also are among the 22-player class that includes 18 players and four coaches.

The class includes 10 unanimous first-team All-Americans. Eleven of the players were offensive performers and seven were defenders.

“We are thrilled to announce the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame Class,” said Archie Manning, NFF Chairman and a 1989 College Football Hall of Famer from Ole Miss. “Each of these legends ranks among the absolute best to have ever played or coached the game, and we look forward to adding their incredible accomplishments to those permanently enshrined in the NFF Hall of Fame.”

Suh and Donald were dominating college players before enjoying stellar NFL careers.

Suh (2006-09) was a first-team All-American for Nebraska and put together one of the top defensive seasons in college history in 2009. The defensive tackle had 12 sacks and won the Bednarik, Lombardi, Nagurski and Outland awards as well as finishing fourth in Heisman Trophy balloting.

Donald (2010-13) of Pittsburgh also swept the top four defensive awards in 2013 when he recorded a staggering 28.5 tackles for loss. The defensive tackle had 66 TFL’s overall in his dominating career for the Panthers.

Ingram (2008-10) became the first player in Alabama’s storied history to win the Heisman in 2009 when he rushed for 1,658 yards and 17 touchdowns and scored 20 overall while leading the Crimson Tide to the national title. He finished his career with 3,261 rushing yards and 42 rushing scores.

Before Harrison (1992-95) was a stellar NFL player, he was a superb receiver and returner at Syracuse. He had 13 100-yard outings and 20 career touchdowns as a receiver and also returned two punts for scores.

Hearst (1990-92) finished third in the Heisman balloting in 1992 when he rushed for 1,547 yards and scored 21 total touchdowns for Georgia. Overall, he had 3,232 yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground.

Weddle (2003-06) was a lightly recruited safety who was given a chance by then-Utah coach Urban Meyer and became one of top pieces of the school’s undefeated season in 2004. He intercepted 18 career passes and forced nine fumbles and also had a stunning eight touchdowns in 2006 with scores coming on defense, as well as a runner, passer and return specialist.

Petersen coached at Boise State (92-12 from 2006-13) and Washington (55-26 from 2014-19) and had three top-five national finishes (two at Boise State, one at Washington). Petersen’s first season at Boise State (12-0 in 2006) concluded with one of the biggest upsets in college football history in the Fiesta Bowl when the Broncos beat Oklahoma 43-42. The highlights included a hook-and-lateral to tie the game with 7 seconds left in regulation and a Statue of Liberty play two-point conversion to win it in overtime.

Other players who are part of the class are New Hampshire running back Jerry Azumah (1995-98), Penn State running back Ki-Jana Carter (1991-94), Texas-Arlington offensive tackle Bruce Collie (1981-84), Oklahoma linebacker George Cumby (1976-79), Colorado defensive back Chris Hudson (1991-94), Washington center Olin Kreutz (1995-97), Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis (2005-08), Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch (2010-13), Virginia receiver Herman Moore (1988-90), Kansas State cornerback Terence Newman (1999-2002), U.S. Military Academy guard Bob Novogratz (1957-58) and Florida State receiver Peter Warrick (1996-99).

The other coaches to earn induction are deceased Jim Margraff (1990-2018) of John Hopkins and the late Ken Sparks (1980-2016) of Carson-Newman. TCU’s Gary Patterson (2000-21) also will be inducted.

Induction ceremonies are Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.

Report: Vikings trading G Ed Ingram to Texans

The Minnesota Vikings are trading guard Ed Ingram to the Houston Texans, NFL Network reported Thursday.

The Vikings will receive a 2026 sixth-round draft pick from Houston in exchange for the three-year veteran.

Ingram, 26, has started 41 of his 48 games since Minnesota made him the 59th overall pick in 2022.

The Vikings signed former Indianapolis Colts guard Will Fries to a reported five-year, $88 million deal earlier this week.

Chiefs put Isiah Pacheco on IR, Kareem Hunt on practice squad

The Kansas City Chiefs placed running back Isiah Pacheco on injured reserve Wednesday.

Pacheco is expected to undergo surgery on his fractured fibula Wednesday, three days after he sustained the injury during Kansas City’s 26-25 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The move on Wednesday guarantees Pacheco will sit out at least the next four games.

Reports have Pacheco sidelined for 6-8 weeks. However, Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that he could not relay a precise timeline for the running back’s expected absence.

The Chiefs addressed their backfield on Wednesday by signing Keaontay Ingram to the active roster and fellow running back Kareem Hunt to the practice squad.

“We’ll get (Hunt) in there and get him some work. Kind of get him back in the swing of playing and we’ll just see,” Reid said. “We’ve got to get him in a position to where he’s ready to play either this, next week or the following week.”

Pacheco, 25, had 90 yards on 19 carries and caught five passes for 21 yards on Sunday. He has a team-high 135 rushing yards through two games.

Since being drafted in the seventh round in 2022, Pacheco has won two Super Bowl championships and racked up 2,328 yards from scrimmage with 15 touchdowns in 33 games (26 starts). He has another 635 yards and four TDs from scrimmage in seven playoff starts.

Veteran Samaje Perine, 29, is listed as Pacheco’s backup on the depth chart but played sparingly on Sunday. He’s viewed as a third-down back.

Undrafted rookie Carson Steele, 21, carried seven times for 24 yards and lost a fumble against Cincinnati.

Hunt, 29, was a third-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft and spent most of the first two years of his professional career in Kansas City, including a Pro Bowl rookie season in which he posted 1,327 rushing yards to lead the league.

Kansas City released Hunt in November 2018 after a video surfaced of him shoving and kicking a woman in a hotel. After authorities did not move forward with criminal charges, Hunt rebooted his career with the Cleveland Browns in 2019.

“At the end of the day, I root for the person. He’s become a better and better person,” star quarterback Patrick Mahomes said of Hunt. “I’m glad to have him back in the building.”

Last season, Hunt appeared in 15 games with two starts for the Browns. He was re-signed after starter Nick Chubb went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 2. He rushed 135 times for 411 yards with nine touchdowns and also caught 15 passes for 84 yards.

Hunt was a free agent when he underwent surgery in January for a ruptured adductor that apparently plagued him much of the 2023 season.

In 91 career games (38 starts) with the Chiefs (2017-18) and Browns, Hunt has gained 6,326 yards from scrimmage with 57 scores.

Ingram, 24, rushed for 74 yards and had four catches for 26 yards in eight games (one start) last season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Saints RB Kamara (knee) to miss third straight game

New Orleans Saints standout running back Alvin Kamara was ruled out of Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills due to his knee injury.

It marks the third straight game the 26-year-old Kamara will miss. He didn’t practice this week.

Kamara was initially hurt during a loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 7. He has 530 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and has 32 receptions for 310 yards and four scores through the air in eight games.

Mark Ingram II, the probable starter, was limited in Wednesday’s practice due to a knee injury. The Saints listed him as questionable to play against the Bills.

Ingram rushed for a season-best 88 yards on 16 carries in last week’s 40-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He has 205 yards and one touchdown on 45 carries and caught 17 passes for 132 yards in four games since joining the Saints.

New Orleans also ruled out offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) and defensive ends Marcus Davenport (shoulder) and Tanoh Kpassagnon (ankle).

Offensive tackle Terron Armstead (knee, shoulder) is questionable.

Ex-Texas RB Keaontay Ingram transfers to Southern California

Former Texas starting running back Keaontay Ingram announced Tuesday that he has transferred to Southern California.

Ingram entered the transfer portal earlier this month after rushing for 1,811 yards and 11 touchdowns and catching 67 passes for 515 yards and six scores in three seasons with the Longhorns.

Ingram rushed for 250 yards and one touchdown and caught 11 passes for 103 yards and score in four games in 2020. He sustained an ankle injury against Oklahoma State on Oct. 31 and missed the rest of the season.

Ingram expressed appreciation to the Texas fans while announcing his move to USC.

“Thank you to all the people who has helped me along the way with this decision!” Ingram wrote on Twitter. “… To Longhorn nation, I want to say thank you and love you all and bleeding orange will forever be part of me!!!!”

Ingram rushed for 708 yards and a freshman in 2018 and followed up with a career-best 853 in 2019.

Texas RB Ingram to miss West Virginia game

Texas junior running back Keaontay Ingram could miss multiple games due to a high-ankle sprain, Longhorns coach Tom Herman said Tuesday.

Ingram was ruled out of Saturday’s contest against West Virginia. He suffered the injury during last week’s 41-34 victory over Oklahoma State.

“It does not require surgery, but he’s gonna be out a few weeks,” Herman said of Ingram.

Ingram has rushed for 250 yards this season, second behind quarterback Sam Ehlinger (284).

Ingram led Texas with 853 rushing yards last season and was second with 708 in 2018.

Sophomore Roschon Johnson (192) and freshman Bijan Robinson (181) will share the workload against West Virginia.

The Longhorns (4-2, 3-2 Big 12) have a bye following the West Virginia game and then visit Kansas on Nov. 21.
