Report: Chiefs DT Omarr Norman-Lott (ACL) out for season

Kansas City Chiefs rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, NFL Network reported Monday.

The 2025 second-round draft pick sustained the knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s 31-0 home victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

After being attended to by medical staff, Norman-Lott was helped off the field by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and rookie cornerback Nohl Williams.

Norman-Lott, 23, has appeared in five games (one start) and recorded one sack and five tackles. He played a total of 73 defensive snaps.

Norman-Lott played two seasons at Tennessee (2023-24) after three at Arizona State (2020-21), collecting 13.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss in 44 games.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett (7) looks to throw while Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart (90) and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore (92) attempt to bring him down during a game on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Colts defeated the Cardinals 31-27.

Reports: Cardinals rolling with Jacoby Brissett again as Kyler Murray is out

The Arizona Cardinals are planning to turn to backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett for another week as Kyler Murray sits out with his foot injury again, NFL Network reported Saturday.

Murray, 28, has been dealing with a high-foot sprain since he sustained an injury during the Cardinals’ Week 5 22-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans. After practicing just one day before last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, Murray was limited in practice throughout this week before he was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report.

The move may have been anticipated as Brissett was seen practicing with the starters throughout the week.

Brissett kept the Cardinals in the game last week, before ultimately falling 31-27 to the Colts. He finished the game 27-of-44 passing for 320 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The Cardinals and Brissett will shift their focus to the Green Bay Packers this weekend. Brissett will aim to get Arizona its first win over Green Bay since 2018.

49ers TE George Kittle plans to return from injury vs. Falcons

The San Francisco 49ers might finally have some good news on the injury front.

Six-time Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle told reporters Thursday that he plans on playing Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons. He was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Kittle has been out since the season opener after the 49ers placed him on the injured reserve list with a right hamstring injury. He revealed to the media that his hamstring was fully torn, although it didn’t tear off the bone.

“I just felt like a rubber band snapped in my hamstring,” Kittle said. “I was like, ‘Ah, I’ve just got to go to the locker room after that one.’”

Kittle’s practice window opened this week, and he has a full 21 days to return. He said he wanted to wait until he was 100 percent before coming back, although the star pass-catcher acknowledged his status for Sunday depends on head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“It’s up to him,” Kittle said. “But, hopefully, I’m out there. Which I think I will be.”

Jake Tonges has filled in during Kittle’s absence, recording 25 catches for 224 yards and three touchdowns. Tonges also made the game-winning catch against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.

Kittle’s impending return offers the 49ers a bit of respite from the injury bug. San Francisco has lost multiple stars for the season, including defensive lineman Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner. The 49ers have also been without key pieces such as starting quarterback Brock Purdy and receiver Brandon Aiyuk for large chunks of the campaign.

Purdy, who has missed the last two games after aggravating his toe injury, and Mac Jones (knee/oblique) were back on the field for the start of practice Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Receivers Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (calf) did not practice Thursday, along with defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos (knee/hamstring).

Despite the bad injury luck, the 49ers (4-2) are tied atop the NFC West.

NFL Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Jake Matthews

Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) day-to-day

Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris said on Tuesday that starting left tackle Jake Matthews is day-to-day with a left ankle injury.

Matthews hurt the ankle in the third quarter of the Falcons’ 24-14 home win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. The 33-year-old was replaced by second-year lineman Michael Jerrell for the remainder of the game.

“We know who (Matthews) is,” Morris said in reference to the lineman’s durability. “We know that he doesn’t miss something. We’ll just have to see. But I feel really positive about him and what happened based on not having any idea last night.”

Matthews has started all 184 regular-season and all five playoff games he has played. The Falcons selected Matthews with the sixth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018.

Atlanta acquired Jerrell from Seattle on Aug. 26 for a conditional seventh-round 2027 draft pick. Jerrell, 26, a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks in 2024, played in 10 games last season and started three.

The Falcons (3-2) visit the San Francisco 49ers (4-2) on Sunday night.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa on track to play despite hip, thumb injuries

Tua Tagovailoa has been dealing with hip and left thumb injuries this week, but the Miami Dolphins aren’t worried about his availability for Week 6.

Tagovailoa was listed as limited on Wednesday’s injury report, and Thursday’s had yet to be published as of 5:15 p.m. local time. But Miami offensive coordinator Frank Smith downplayed his quarterback’s health concerns before the Dolphins play the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Ultimately he’s working through stuff for the week, and we’re not overall concerned for Sunday,” Smith told reporters Thursday. “We’re working through the process to Sunday, but I mean, we’re not anticipating any setback for him for playing on Sunday.”

Tagovailoa, 27, played all 17 games in just one of his first five NFL seasons due to multiple concussions and other injuries. A concussion and a hip injury kept him out of six games last year.

Through five games this season, Tagovailoa has thrown for 1,008 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 70.7 percent of his attempts. But Miami has struggled to a 1-4 start, and it has lost star receiver Tyreek Hill for the year to a major knee injury.

Zach Wilson is Tagovailoa’s primary backup this season. Seventh-round draft pick Quinn Ewers is also on the roster.

Chargers place RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) on IR

The Los Angeles Chargers will place rookie running back Omarion Hampton on injured reserve after he suffered an ankle injury Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters of the plan Monday, which means Hampton will miss at least the next four games before he’s eligible to be reactivated.

Hampton left the 27-10 loss Sunday late in the third quarter after he tripped over a defender. He was seen with a walking boot on his left foot after the game.

Hampton, 22, has started all five games at running back for Los Angeles after being drafted in the first round (22nd overall) of the NFL draft in April. He has gained 314 yards on the ground with two touchdowns and added 20 receptions for 136 yards.

Without Hampton, the Chargers are thin at running back. Offseason signing Najee Harris was lost for the year to a torn Achilles in Week 3, making Hassan Haskins the only healthy back on the 53-man roster. Kimani Vidal, who has 173 career rushing yards, and untested rookie Amar Johnson are on the practice squad.

Haskins has five carries for 13 yards in his third season in the league and second year with the Chargers.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill out after gruesome knee injury vs. Jets

Miami Dolphins standout receiver Tyreek Hill was carted off the field early in the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the New York Jets with a potentially serious left knee injury.

The Dolphins quickly ruled Hill out and announced he was being transported to a local hospital for imaging and further evaluation.

Hill was injured when he caught a 10-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa near the New York sideline with 13:21 left in the third quarter. His leg twisted awkwardly as he was going out of bounds and he immediately grabbed for the knee.

While being carted off, Hill forcefully clapped his hands several times, smiled and laughed in response to the crowd.

Hill had six receptions for 67 yards before exiting. Including Monday’s output, Hill has 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown in four games this season.

The eight-time Pro Bowler is in fourth season with the Dolphins after playing his first six campaigns with the Kansas City Chiefs.

49ers QB Brock Purdy hurting again, could miss TNF vs. Rams

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s return to the starting role might be brief.

Purdy re-injured his toe in San Francisco’s 26-21 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday, leaving his availability up in the air on a short week, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday.

The 49ers (3-1) are set to visit the Los Angeles Rams (3-1) on Thursday night, a critical early test in the tightly packed NFC West.

Purdy played in the 26-21 defeat on Sunday afternoon and told reporters afterward that he felt fine. But Shanahan said Monday morning that Purdy had called him on Sunday night and said the injury, a form of turf toe, again was bothering him.

The quarterback is expected to be evaluated on Monday afternoon, Shanahan said.

“Hopefully, we’ll find out more later today, but any time guys are sore and hurting on a Monday, you usually don’t stress too much about it,” Shanahan said. “But anytime you have a Thursday game, it’s a totally different element. So, I’m concerned with anybody who’s not totally healthy at this moment, but we’ll have to get more information on that later today to really have a clue of what to speculate.”

Purdy was injured during the season-opening 17-13 road victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He passed for 277 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The 25-year-old sat out wins over the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals to rest his foot.

His replacement, Mac Jones, sustained a knee sprain and was limited in practice last week. Purdy went from limited early in the week to being cleared to play against Jacksonville.

Purdy was 22-of-38 passing for 309 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions and also lost a fumble. He said the toe wasn’t an issue, but Purdy acknowledged that his mechanics might have been off, resulting in a few high throws.

“I think just getting back out there and throwing and getting into a rhythm, being down two weeks, coming back and feeling out my body and everything, obviously how my toe feels,” he said.

“Honestly, I don’t know the answer to that,” he said of the toe injury’s impact. “But, obviously, I’m going to watch this film, look at my mechanics and be real with myself and try to fix that.”

Purdy is a combined 48 of 73 (65.8 percent) for 586 yards, four TDs and four interceptions with a 78.8 quarterback rating in his two games. For his career, he is a 67.5-percent passer, with 10,104 yards, 68 TDs and 31 picks in 42 regular-season games (38 starts) and a 24-14 record.

Shanahan also said that wide receiver Ricky Pearsall could miss the next game with an ailing right knee. He was hurt attempting to make a catch in bounds and left the game early on Sunday.

“I was testing out my knee,” Pearsall said. “I fell pretty hard on that play on the sideline, trying to keep my feet in bounds, and I fell pretty hard on my knee. I was just feeling pain and a little bit of instability. I wasn’t trying to mess with it.”

Shanahan does not think that Pearsall has a long-term injury from the initial evaluation but pointed to a possible sprain.

“They’re thinking more of a minor PCL or something like that is what our guess is, just landing on it hard,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully, it won’t be too bad. Obviously, a huge concern with the Thursday night game and stuff, but we’re not expecting it to be too bad.”

Pearsall, 25, has 20 receptions on 29 targets for 327 yards in starting all four games.

San Francisco wide receiver Jauan Jennings injured his ribs on Sunday in his return to the lineup from injury. He also will be further evaluated on Monday.

Jennings, 28, has played in three games this season — all starts — and has nine catches on 19 targets for 129 yards and one touchdown. He missed the Week 3 win over Arizona because of ankle and shoulder issues.

Report: Giants WR Malik Nabers out for season with torn ACL

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is out for the season with a torn right ACL, ESPN reported Monday.

Nabers was carted off the field in the second quarter of the Giants’ 21-18 victory Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers.

Nabers was injured as he jumped for a downfield pass from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart with 6:12 remaining in the first half. As the pass fell incomplete, Nabers immediately grabbed for his right knee as he went to the ground.

“Injuries happen. Certainly not happy about it, whether it’s Malik or anybody else,” Giants head coach Brian Daboll said after the game. “Unfortunately, this is a business of injury. I feel terrible for Malik’s injury, we’ll see where it’s at. He’s an important piece of our team, but the guys that play behind him. … Everybody gets paid to do a job. It’s next man up”

ESPN reported Monday that an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City confirmed the injury to be a torn ACL.

Nabers had been limited in practice earlier in the week because of a shoulder injury.

Nabers, 22, entered Week 4 leading New York in receptions (16), receiving yards (251) and receiving touchdowns (two). Before departing Sunday, he had two receptions on three targets for 20 yards.

Wan’Dale Robinson, who now shares the team lead with 18 catches in 2025, and tight end Theo Johnson were both targeted five times in the win over the Chargers. Robinson suffered the same injury — a right ACL tear — in Nov. 2022, also on the MetLife Stadium turf and was ready for training camp in August 2023.

Last season, Nabers set an NFL rookie record for receivers with 109 catches, also establishing a new franchise mark for the Giants.

Nabers totaled 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games (13 starts) last season en route to being named to the Pro Bowl.

The Giants selected Nabers with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (hamstring) exits game vs. Chiefs

Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson left with a hamstring injury in the third quarter Sunday with Baltimore trailing 30-13 at the Kansas City Chiefs.

The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player was listed as questionable by the team.

Jackson was 14-of-20 passing for 147 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He rushed six times for 48 yards. On a third-down play, he was sacked for a 2-yard loss with 8:10 left in the third on his final play of the game.

Backup Cooper Rush replaced Jackson near the end of the third quarter.
