Bills’ Dalton Kincaid, Bucs’ Bucky Irving, Chris Godwin ruled out

The Buffalo Bills won’t have tight end Dalton Kincaid for Sunday’s game against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who ruled out wide receiver Chris Godwin and running back Bucky Irving.

Bill coach Sean McDermott confirmed Friday that Kincaid will not suit up for Buffalo (6-3) due to a hamstring injury sustained in last Sunday’s 30-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Kincaid, 26, leads the team with four receiving touchdowns. His 29 catches for 448 receiving yards trail only wide receiver Khalil Shakir (45, 457) for the team lead in both categories.

As for Shakir, McDermott said the wideout is expected to be cleared for contact and turn in a full participation level at Friday’s practice. Shakir, 25, has been limited the previous two days due to ankle and rib injuries.

Bills defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis (shoulder) also has been ruled out.

Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said Irving (foot, shoulder) and Godwin (fibula) are continuing to make progress but are not ready to return for Tampa Bay (6-3).

Irving, 23, has been sidelined since Week 4. He has 237 rushing yards, 193 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs in four games this season.

Godwin, 29, has been limited to two games this season, catching a total of six passes for 52 yards in Weeks 4 and 5.

Injury-ravaged Bucs place WR Mike Evans (collarbone) on IR

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers formally placed receiver Mike Evans on injured reserve Wednesday, two days after he broke a collarbone that will reportedly require surgery later this week.

If the break was clean, Evans could return in eight weeks for a Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers. It is also possible he could miss the rest of the regular season.

Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday he’s unsure whether Evans will return this season.

“It’s going to be touch and go,” Bowles said. “We’ll see as we get toward the end of the year. It’s definitely going to be the end of the year — hopefully it’s before that — if we get to the playoffs, we go from there. It may be in the playoffs. It depends on how it heals.”

Evans was hurt while trying to corral a deep throw from Baker Mayfield in the Buccaneers’ 24-9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday night. He also sustained a concussion.

The injury will end an impressive streak. Evans has put together 11 consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons, tying Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the all-time mark.

Evans has 14 catches for 140 yards and one touchdown in four games this season. He also missed three games with a hamstring injury.

Receiver Chris Godwin (fibula) and running back Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Godwin has played just two games this season, while Irving will miss his fourth straight.

Outside linebacker Haason Reddick (ankle/knee) was injured against the Lions and underwent an MRI exam. Although the severity isn’t yet known, Bowles said Reddick will miss some games.

Among other players who missed practice Wednesday were receiver Emeka Egbuka (hamstring), linebacker Lavonte David (knee/rib) and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (toe). Mayfield (knee) was limited.

Tampa Bay promoted offensive lineman Michael Jordan from the practice squad to fill a roster spot and signed receiver Brandon Johnson to the practice squad.

Bucs RB Bucky Irving (foot) on crutches, could miss Week 5

Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving was on crutches and wearing a walking boot on his left foot at Wednesday’s practice.

ESPN reported Irving has a foot sprain and his status is unclear for Sunday’s visit to Seattle to play the Seahawks (3-1).

Irving gained 165 yards from scrimmage, and had a 72-yard touchdown catch in Tampa’s loss to the Eagles last week. The injury occurred in the first half while Irving was tackled by Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell.

Head coach Todd Bowles said Irving had an MRI exam and expects to know more in 48 hours when team medical personnel will determine whether Irving can be available at Seattle.

“They said we’ll know more by Friday,” Bowles said of Irving’s status. “Right now it’s a sprain. Taking it day-by-day. If he’s not out of the boot by Friday, more than likely he’s not going to play.”

Irving has 430 yards from scrimmage in 2025, sixth in the NFL, and would be replaced in the lineup by Rachaad White.

White has 23 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown this season. He also has eight receptions for 34 yards.

Raiders sign DE Irving to practice squad

Recently reinstated defensive end David Irving was signed to the practice squad of the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday.

On Friday, Irving was removed from an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy for a second time. He also has violated the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy on one occasion.

Irving was suspended indefinitely in March 2019 for a second violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy and a third overall drug violation.

Irving played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2015-18 prior to the latest suspension. Joining the Raiders reunites with him defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, who was Irving’s position coach with the Cowboys.

The 27-year-old Iowa State product last played in the NFL in 2018, when he had four tackles and one sack in two games with the Cowboys.

Overall, he had 56 tackles, 12.5 sacks and five forced fumbles in 37 games (10 starts) with the Cowboys from 2015-18. His best showing came in 2017, when he had seven sacks in eight games.

Irving is currently going through the COVID-19 protocols and is on track to being eligible to enter the Raiders’ team facility on Thursday. Las Vegas has a bye this weekend.

After the March 2019 suspension was announced, Irving said he was quitting football.

Irving missed the first four games of both the 2017 and 2018 seasons due to suspensions. The performance-enhancing-drug violation led to the 2017 suspension and the first substance-abuse violation was the reason for the 2018 discipline.

Irving also was investigated in a domestic-violence incident in 2018 before police in Frisco, Texas, closed the case without filing charges. The claims were made by an ex-girlfriend, who later recanted her story.

The Raiders also activated backup quarterback Marcus Mariota (shoulder, ankle) off injured reserve.

Reports: Troubled DE Irving reinstated by NFL

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end David Irving was reinstated by the NFL, multiple outlets reported Friday.

Pro Football Talk reported Irving’s reinstatement from the suspended list was on the NFL’s daily transactions list.

Irving was suspended indefinitely in March 2019 for a second violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy and a third overall drug violation. His first career suspension was for violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

Irving also was investigated in a domestic-violence incident in 2018 before police in Frisco, Texas closed the case without filing charges. The claims were made by an ex-girlfriend, who later recanted her story.
