San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Elijah Mitchell was ruled inactive for Sunday’s game against the host Jacksonville Jaguars due to a broken finger.
Mitchell’s availability had been in question all week after he sustained a broken finger in San Francisco’s 31-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday. Mitchell had a career-high 27 carries for 91 yards against the Rams.
Jeffery Wilson Jr. is expected to take on a larger workload on Sunday in the absence of Mitchell, who has recorded team-leading totals in carries (116) and rushing yards (560) this season. His three rushing touchdowns are tied with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for the club lead.
Mitchell was selected by the 49ers with a sixth-round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fellow running back JaMycal Hasty, defensive lineman Maurice Hurst and offensive lineman Colton McKivitz were also listed as inactive for the 49ers.
