Browns WR Jerry Jeudy signs 3-year extension

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy signed a three-year contract extension on Tuesday.

Multiple outlets reported the contract is worth up to $58 million — including $41 million guaranteed at the signing — but details were not confirmed by the team. Jeudy was heading into the final year of his contract this season.

He was acquired by the Browns on March 9 from the Denver Broncos in exchange for fifth- and sixth-round picks (135th and 202nd overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“I want to be somewhere that wants me to be there. I want to be home,” Jeudy said. “When I stepped in the building, just the energy and excitement that I received when I got there, that made me feel welcomed. I feel like it’s a fresh start. It’s going to be exciting just to be able to be somewhere new, especially having all the great guys on the team. So, it’s just going to make things a lot easier for me and just better.”

Jeudy, who turns 25 next month, is receiving a fresh start after being selected by the Broncos with the 15th overall draft pick in 2020 out of Alabama. They picked up his fifth-year contract option last May, signing him to a $12.99 million deal for 2024.

With the Browns, Jeudy will join Amari Cooper (1,250 yards, five touchdowns in 2023) and Elijah Moore (640 yards, two TDs) as a key target for quarterback Deshaun Watson.

“When we acquired Jerry via trade this spring, it was with the vision that he would become a core member of our offense in 2024 and beyond,” said Andrew Berry, the Browns executive vice president of football operations.

“He is a scheme-versatile receiver with high-level ability to separate against man coverage and a diverse number of ways to produce on the perimeter or in the slot.

“We felt that the ability to add a passionate and competitive player with his combination of strengths would be an important component of our offense now and into the future. At 24 years old and just entering his prime, we are pleased to have Jerry as a member of the Browns for the next several seasons and believe the best is yet to come.”

Last season, Jeudy appeared in 16 games (11 starts) for the Broncos and tallied 54 catches for 758 yards and two touchdowns.

In four seasons in Denver, he gained 3,053 yards on 211 receptions and added 11 touchdowns in 57 games (44 starts).

Reports: Browns to acquire WR Jerry Jeudy from Broncos

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to acquire wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos for a pair of draft picks, multiple outlets reported Saturday.

The Broncos will receive fifth- and sixth-round picks (135th and 202nd overall) in next month’s NFL draft, per reports.

The trade fills multiple needs: a wide receiver for the Browns; a fresh start for Jeudy, who hasn’t always been happy in Denver; and draft picks and salary cap space for the rebuilding Broncos.

The Broncos selected Jeudy, who turns 25 next month, with the No. 15 overall draft pick in 2020 out of Alabama. They picked up his fifth-year contract option last May, signing him to a $12.99 million deal for 2024.

That contract, and cash, will shift to Cleveland when the new league year begins Wednesday and the trade can be finalized. Jeudy will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season.

With the Browns, Jeudy will join Amari Cooper (1,250 yards, five touchdowns in 2023) and Elijah Moore (640 yards, two TDs) as a key target for QB Deshaun Watson.

Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy carted off practice field

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was carted off the field during a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday with an apparent hamstring injury.

Jeudy pulled up and grabbed at his right leg during a drill, per multiple media members.

The severity of the injury was not immediately known. The Broncos, however, already have sustained a season-ending injury to their receiving corps after Tim Patrick tore his Achilles on July 31.

Jeudy, 24, is coming off his most productive season, catching 67 passes for 972 yards and six touchdowns in 2022. The Alabama product closed his third season by averaging 6.6 catches for 91.6 yards over the final five games.

Jeudy has 157 catches for 2,295 yards and nine touchdowns in 41 games (33 starts) since the Broncos selected him 15th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Broncos GM doesn’t ‘anticipate’ moving WR Jerry Jeudy

Denver Broncos general manager George Paton reiterated that the team has no intention of trading wide receiver Jerry Jeudy this offseason.

“We’re high — really high — on Jerry,” Paton said during his pre-draft news conference. “We don’t anticipate doing anything with Jerry. We like Jerry, and he’s going to be here.”

That was the message Broncos coach Sean Payton conveyed last month, but rumors have persisted that Denver may be open to parting with Jeudy and/or fellow wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

The Broncos are without a first-round pick in next week’s draft, where they currently hold only five total picks.

Jeudy, 23, is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract, and Paton declined to say whether the team plans to pick up his fifth-year option at $12.987 million. The team has a May 2 deadline to exercise the option.

The former Alabama star is coming off his most productive season, catching 67 passes for 972 yards and six touchdowns in 2022. Jeudy closed his third season by averaging 6.6 catches for 91.6 yards over the final five games.

“Jerry finished the season strong — the last five games, he had over 500 (receiving) yards,” Paton said. “He was one of the top receivers in the league.”

However, Jeudy has yet to produce a 1,000-yard season and has missed a combined nine games due to a variety of nagging injuries.

With a dearth of options left on the free-agent market, receiver-needy teams may inquire leading up to, and through, the draft. Despite lacking a pick in the first round, Paton said the Broncos will manage draft day as if they do, a remain flexible as they watch the picks roll in.

“We’re going to approach the first day of the draft like we’re picking,” he said. “That’s how we’ve prepared our draft meetings. We’re preparing like we’re picking in the first round and in the second round. That’ll be our approach.

“We’ll monitor each pick, and we’ll discuss each pick compared to our grade. We’ll look at the trades and look at who’s falling. I think we’re going to be locked in like we have first-round pick on that first day.”

On the injury front, Paton said running back Javonte Williams is “doing really well” in his rehab from knee surgery. The Broncos are confident he will play next season, but isn’t putting a timetable on his return. Paton also isn’t ruling out adding to the backfield depth chart during the draft.

“We’re not entirely sure when (Williams will return),” Paton said. “He’s progressing very well.

“Like all of the positions … if there’s a runner there — no matter what point of the draft — and he’s the best player on our board, we’ll take a running back, that’s for sure. We addressed enough needs (in free agency) where we can take the best players throughout the draft. We do not need to reach.”

Reports: Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy fined over $36K by NFL

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was fined a total of $36,281 by the NFL for his actions during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

Per reports, Jeudy was fined $23,020 for making contact with a game official and $13,261 for unsportsmanlike conduct for removing his helmet while on the playing field.

Jeudy, 23, was not penalized for either infraction during the Broncos’ 34-28 loss to the Chiefs. He told reporters that he was upset after being held on a previous play.

“I know they’re going to fine me,” Jeudy said Wednesday. “It is what it is. I know the consequences of the situation and I’m going to learn from it.”

Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett told reporters that he had spoken with Jeudy after the outburst.

“I went to address it right away and talk with him,” Hackett said. “He definitely knew that he was wrong. That’s unacceptable. You can’t do that. We’ve addressed that and I know that he knows he can’t do that. I know he was very frustrated at the time, but that’s just something you can’t do.”

Jeudy scored three touchdowns on Sunday to boost his total to a career-high six on the season. He also has 42 receptions for 587 yards.

Charge dropped against Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy

A judge in Arapahoe County, Colo., dismissed a misdemeanor charge against Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy on Tuesday.

The district attorney’s office had moved to have the case closed against Jeudy, who was arrested earlier this month and charged with second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer, a misdemeanor. He was held overnight in the county jail.

Jeudy was scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday, but it was canceled with the dismissal of the charge.

“After reviewing the evidence, I always believed that no crime had been committed and all charges would be dismissed,” Jeudy’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, told ESPN.

9News reported May 12 that Jeudy admitted to taking a wallet and baby formula belonging to the mother of his infant child after she took one of his phones. He locked the items in his car, according to the report.

The television station said the woman told the judge she called 911 only to have police “monitor” the situation and not to have him arrested. She also said she never felt that she was in danger.

Jeudy, 23, has played two seasons with the Broncos since they selected him in the first round (15th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He played in 10 games (five starts) last season while dealing with a high ankle sprain and a stint on the COVID-19 list.

He has been participating in offseason workouts with the team.

Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy released from jail

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was released on a personal recognizance bond Friday after an appearance in Arapahoe County (Colo.) Court.

He was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer, a misdemeanor. He was held overnight in the county jail.

Jeudy didn’t enter a plea during his court appearance, during which he wore an orange jail jumpsuit and was shackled, 9News in Denver reported. He is due back in court on May 31.

While a mandatory protection order remains in place, Judge Chantel Contiguglia dropped the no-contact portion of the order, saying “there was not probable cause to believe that there was the threat or use of any physical force against the victim,” ESPN reported.
