Titans place Caleb Farley on IR, promote pair ahead of ‘TNF’

The Tennessee Titans placed cornerback Caleb Farley on injured reserve and promoted two players to the active roster in a flurry of roster moves ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Titans also signed journeyman kicker Josh Lambo to their practice squad in the aftermath of Randy Bullock’s injury last week.

The Titans elevated linebacker Joe Schobert and defensive lineman Larrell Murchison to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

The team also signed linebacker Andre Smith to the practice squad along with defensive backs Greg Mabin and Davontae Harris, in addition to Lambo.

Farley, 24, appeared in nine games (one start) this season, recording 10 tackles. He suffered a back injury on special teams in last week’s win over Denver. He’ll have to miss at least four games, however ESPN reported that Farley sustained a herniated disk and that the injury will require surgery, ending his season.

Schobert has nine tackles and a forced fumble in three games this season. Murchison has also appeared in three games this season.

Bullock is on the injury report this week with a right (kicking leg) calf issue. Lambo has yet to kick in a game this season. In 78 career games, Lambo has made 87.1 percent of his field goal tries and 89.9 percent of his PATs.

The Titans released defensive back Shyheim Carter and offensive lineman Eric Smith from their practice squad.

Broncos release LB Joe Schobert after 1 week

The Denver Broncos released linebacker Joe Schobert after just one week and put offensive lineman Tom Compton on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

The Broncos also waived running back Stevie Scott III and wide receiver Trey Quinn to get its roster down to the required 80 Tuesday, the deadline for the next round of roster cuts.

The Broncos brought in Schobert to fill a void created when linebacker Jonas Griffith dislocated his left elbow. He’s out four to six weeks.

The Broncos move on from Schobert after seeing him action against the Buffalo Bills in Saturday’s preseason game. He had two tackles against the Bills.

Schobert posted 112 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble in 16 games (15 starts) with Pittsburgh in 2021.

Schobert, 28, has 661 tackles, 11 sacks, 10 interceptions and 10 forced fumbles in 93 games (80 starts) with the Cleveland Browns (2016-19), Jacksonville Jaguars (2020) and Steelers.

Compton will have to miss at least four games on the PUP list. He played in 17 games (seven starts) for the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. He has started 44 of 123 career games for six different teams.

The Broncos also waived tackle Casey Tucker with an injury designation.
