Cowboys CB Jourdan Lewis (Lisfranc) done for season

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis underwent surgery for a Lisfranc injury in his foot Sunday night and is done for the remainder of the season, ESPN and The Dallas Morning News reported.

Lewis suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ win over the Detroit Lions while intercepting a pass. He was carted to the locker room.

Lewis, 27, started four of six games this season and had 26 tackles and one sack to go with the interception.

He has eight career INTs in 43 games (eight starts), all with the Cowboys, who selected him in the third round of the 2017 draft.

Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (foot) cleared for OTAs

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne has been cleared for all practice activities and will take part in offseason workouts that start Monday, coach Doug Pederson said.

Etienne missed the entire 2021 season.

Etienne suffered a Lisfranc injury to his left foot during the second quarter of a 23-21 preseason loss at New Orleans on Aug. 23 and had surgery in September. He landed on injured reserve, ending his rookie season.

Etienne, 23, was selected by the Jaguars with the 25th overall pick in the 2021 draft after they took his college teammate, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, with the No. 1 pick.

Etienne is the all-time leading rusher in Atlantic Coast Conference history after running for 4,952 yards in four seasons (55 games) at Clemson.

Saints’ Taysom Hill needs surgery to repair Lisfranc injury

New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill needs surgery to repair the Lisfranc injury he sustained in Sunday’s season finale against the Atlanta Falcons.

Saints head coach Sean Payton didn’t give a timeline for recovery, however reports put Hill out of action for about six months.

Hill was injured during the second quarter after being tackled on a running play. Hill completed 7 of 9 passes for 107 yards and one touchdown and rushed five times for 18 yards before departing in the 30-20 win over Atlanta.

For the season, Hill passed for 978 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions. He rushed for 374 yards and five scores.

The 31-year-old Hill started five games this season for the Saints (9-8), who did not qualify for the playoffs despite Sunday’s victory.

He was one of four starting quarterbacks New Orleans utilized this season.

Jameis Winston was the starter before tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee in the Saints’ seventh game of the campaign. Trevor Siemian started four games and Ian Book received one start.

Siemian replaced Hill against Atlanta and went 9 of 15 for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

Saints QB Taysom Hill injures foot against Falcons

New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill sustained a Lisfranc injury to his left foot during Sunday’s 30-20 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Hill was injured during the second quarter after being tackled on a running play.

“He hurt his Lisfranc. We just don’t know to what degree,” Saints coach Sean Payton said of Hill.

A Lisfranc typically involves a fracture of the foot. Depending on the severity, the recovery time could be as long as six months.

Hill suffered a Lisfranc injury to his right foot when he was a star quarterback at BYU. The injury occurred in the opening game of the 2015 season against Nebraska and he missed the rest of the season.

Broncos DL Purcell (foot) out for season

Denver Broncos defensive lineman Mike Purcell is out for the season after injuring his foot during Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Purcell, who just signed a contract extension earlier this month, suffered a Lisfranc injury that will require surgery, head coach Vic Fangio said Monday.

Purcell recorded 13 tackles and one sack in six starts this season. He played just five snaps against the Chiefs.

Purcell, 29, was cut 10 times by six teams before landing in Denver last year. He has played in 44 games (21 starts) with the San Francisco 49ers and Broncos. He was an undrafted free agent out of Wyoming in 2013.

Purcell signed a three-year, $14.8 million extension on Oct. 6.
