Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen speaks during a press conference at the Miller Electric Center, Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Jaguars, Commanders host teams for London games

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be designated as the home team for two games in London this year, the NFL announced on Wednesday.

The games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley Stadium will be played in consecutive weeks in October. A second game overseas was added to the Jaguars’ schedule due to the ongoing renovations at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

The league also announced that the Washington Commanders will serve as the host team for a game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Commanders previously played overseas on two occasions. They visited London in 2016 for a tie against the Cincinnati Bengals and lost to the Miami Dolphins in Madrid in 2025.

The opponents and specific dates for the games have yet to be announced.

Commanders managing partner Josh Harris said he was looking forward to returning to Europe.

“Last season’s trip to Madrid was personally unforgettable, and a tremendous milestone for our organization,” Harris said in a statement. “Playing in the NFL’s first regular season game in Spain and experiencing the passion of fans was truly special and reaffirmed the power of and excitement for the Commanders and NFL globally. London is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the world. We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring the Commanders and NFL football to this unique city.”

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen also said he is on board as the franchise continues to establish a footprint across the Atlantic Ocean.

“Last season was my first experience in London as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars and my immediate takeaway was London is undoubtedly our home away from home,” Coen said. “We have a passionate and knowledgeable fan base in London, built over time and still growing, and we’re making a positive impact with fans throughout the United Kingdom as well. That’s something our organization, starting with our ownership, has worked very hard to achieve and takes great pride in further developing each season.

“With two games in London in 2026 it’s going to be great fun for our fans in London as well as for everyone in Jacksonville who will be making the trip. I’m definitely looking forward to it and I know our players are happy to return as well.”

The Jaguars are 7-7 all-time in London.

Matthew Stafford’s 5 TD get Rams past Jaguars in London

Matthew Stafford threw a season-high five touchdowns, Davante Adams had three TD receptions and the Los Angeles Rams earned a convincing 35-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the rain on Sunday at London.

Stafford, who entered the day as the league leader in passing yards (1,684) and was tied for fourth in touchdown passes (12), completed 21 of 33 passes for 182 yards. He threw five touchdown passes for the fourth time in his career — and the first time since 2015 — despite being without leading receiver Puka Nacua, who was sidelined with an ankle injury.

Adams filled that void for the Rams (5-2) with his third career three-touchdown game and first since 2020. Adams finished with five catches for 35 yards. His three touchdowns amassed a total of 4 yards.

The Rams took a shutout into the fourth quarter before Jacksonville (4-3) got on the board with 9:06 left on Travis Hunter’s first career touchdown catch, a 34-yarder from Trevor Lawrence. Hunter finished with a game and career-high 101 yards on eight catches.

Lawrence connected on 23 of 48 passes for 296 yards.

From the onset of Sunday’s game, the Rams set the tone. The Los Angeles defense started by holding Jacksonville to consecutive three-and-outs, and the offense began with consecutive touchdown drives.

Stafford found rookie Konata Mumpfield for his first career TD catch from 5 yards out on the opening drive. He connected with Adams for a 2-yard score to make it 14-0 with 1:51 left in the first quarter.

After a missed field goal from Jacksonville’s Cam Little, Los Angeles made it 21-0 with 4:37 left in the half on a 1-yard pass from Stafford to Adams.

With no Nacua, who led the league in catches entering Sunday, Stafford completed passes to 10 different players. No Rams player had more than five catches or 47 receiving yards.

The Jaguars outgained the Rams 358-271 but were hindered by 13 penalties for 119 yards and multiple wasted opportunities.

Jacksonville crossed midfield on five consecutive possessions over the second and third quarters but did not score points on any of those trips. After Little’s missed field goal, the next three drives ended on fourth-down stops at or inside the Rams’ 30 and the fifth ended with a punt.

The Jaguars allowed seven sacks, bringing that tally to 14 over their current two-game losing streak.

After Hunter’s touchdown, the Rams responded with the third scoring connection from Stafford to Adams to restore the four-touchdown advantage with 4:58 left.

Rams WR Puka Nacua ruled out in London vs. Jaguars

Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua was ruled out on Friday for a matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in London.

Head coach Sean McVay delivered the expected verdict on the status of Nacua on Friday.

Nacua sustained a sprained left ankle in the second quarter of Sunday’s 17-3 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. He briefly returned in the second half, albeit in a limited capacity.

The Rams (4-2) have a bye in Week 8, which would afford Nacua multiple weeks to recover.

Jordan Whittington, who has 10 receptions for 112 yards this season, likely would see a bigger role this week in the absence of Nacua. Davante Adams is the second-leading receiver on the roster with 26 receptions for 396 yards and three touchdowns.

Nacua, 24, has 54 catches for 616 yards and two TDs and leads the team in targets (65).

McVay also ruled out right tackle Rob Havenstein (ankle) against the Jaguars (4-2).

Havenstein, 33, has started all 145 games in which he has played since being selected by the Rams in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Broncos batter Justin Fields, Jets in London rock fight

Denver’s defense lowered the boom on the New York Jets and the Broncos did enough to leave London with a 13-11 win on Sunday.

The Jets (0-6) had minus-10 net passing yards and quarterback Justin Fields was sacked nine times, but New York had a lead late and a chance to kick a long game-winning field goal on the final drive.

Wil Lutz punched in a 27-yard field goal with 5:06 remaining to give the Broncos the two-point lead. Nik Bonitto notched Denver’s seventh sack of Fields, getting the ball back to quarterback Bo Nix only 90 seconds later.

But the Broncos (4-2) couldn’t move the chains.

Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson dragged down Nix to force a Denver punt and New York was at midfield when the two-minute warning arrived. Fields was put on his back an eighth time before hitting wide receiver Garrett Wilson for a seven-yard gain to the Denver 44. After an incompletion to Wilson, the Jets opted to bypass a 61-yard field goal try and kept the offense on the field on 4th-and-8.

Jonathon Cooper pushed Fields up in the pocket where Justin Strnad closed out the game with Denver’s ninth sack. Cooper had two sacks and Strnad added 1.5.

Nix completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards. Fields completed nine passes for 45 yards.

Kickers claimed the spotlight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a field-position struggle dominated by defense. The Jets led in the fourth quarter for the third time this season but remain winless.

Nick Folk made three field goals and Jets punter Austin McNamara kept the field tilted in New York’s favor with 355 yards on seven punts.

Denver arrived in London on Tuesday on the energy of an upset of the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Monday and leaves with a half-game lead in the AFC West.

The first passing yards of the second half for Nix came on a play-fake pass to tight end Evan Engram, moving the chains with the nine minutes to play. Facing a third-and-7, Nix’s 26-yarder to the left flat to wide receiver Marvin Mims — the longest play from scrimmage in the game — and consecutive positive gains on the ground by J.K. Dobbins landed Denver in the red zone. But two Nix incompletions and a Dobbins stuff forced Lutz’s second field goal of the game.

Despite only 76 total yards of offense entering the fourth quarter, the Jets stayed alive thanks to mistakes by the Broncos.

The Jets reclaimed the lead with five minutes left in the third quarter, jumping on top 11-10. Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz was flagged for holding in the endzone, clasping onto Jets defensive lineman Michael Clemons as he steamrolled into the backfield with a bull rush that parked Meinerz on his rear end. Nix dropped back from the Denver 3, targeting wide receiver Troy Franklin on a seven-step drop. Franklin was called for offensive pass interference, which the Jets declined, to accept the holding penalty resulting in a safety.

Nix and Nate Adkins hooked up for a 16-yard TD as time expired in the first quarter.

Lutz drilled a 57-yard field goal after Denver opened the game with a turnover on its first drive. The Jets took a 3-0 lead on Folk’s 52-yarder four minutes into the game, and put the Jets back on top (6-3) with a 41-yard field goal.

Carson Wentz rallies Vikings to win vs. Browns in London

Carson Wentz threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Addison with 25 seconds left in regulation. lifting the Minnesota Vikings to a 21-17 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in London.

Wentz completed 25 of 34 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota (3-2), which bounced back from a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin last week. Justin Jefferson had seven catches for 123 yards, and Addison tallied five catches for 41 yards and a score despite being benched at times for what was referred to as a coach’s decision.

Quinshon Judkins had 23 carries for 110 yards for Cleveland (1-4). Fellow Dillon Gabriel made his first career start at quarterback and completed 19 of 33 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Minnesota trailed 17-14 when it got the ball at its 20-yard line with 3:05 remaining. Wentz led a 10-play, 80-yard scoring drive mostly out of the no-huddle offense to put the Vikings on top.

Addison punctuated the go-ahead drive with a touchdown catch along the right sideline. Teammates lined up to congratulate him as he returned to the sideline.

Cleveland opened the scoring midway through the first quarter. Gabriel found rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr., who hauled in a 1-yard catch to put the Browns on top 7-0.

The connection marked Fannin Jr.’s first career touchdown reception and Gabriel’s second TD pass. The Browns selected both players in the third round.

Minnesota pulled even at 7-7 with 2:30 remaining in the first quarter. Running back Cam Akers took a direct snap out of the shotgun formation, rolled right and lofted a pass to tight end Josh Oliver for a 32-yard touchdown.

Cleveland took a 10-7 lead on Andre Szmyt’s 31-yard kick with nine seconds left in the half.

The back-and-forth battle continued as Jordan Mason punched in a 3-yard touchdown run to put the Vikings back on top 14-10 with 11:11 remaining in the third quarter.

The Browns responded on the next drive to regain a 17-14 lead. Tight end David Njoku ran a slant route across the middle of the field, and Gabriel fired a strike to him for a 9-yard touchdown.

Reports: Kansas, Arizona State to play first FBS game at Wembley

Kansas and Arizona State will meet in the first-ever FBS game at London’s Wembley Stadium next season, multiple outlets reported Thursday.

The Big 12 schools will play at the iconic 86,000-seat venue on Sept. 19 in what originally was scheduled as a home game for the Jayhawks. It will be the conference opener for both teams.

The only previous college football game held in England came on Oct. 16, 1988, when Richmond defeated Boston College 20-17 in front of just 5,000 fans at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in south London.

It will be the second straight year the Big 12 held a game in that part of the world. Iowa State defeated Kansas State 24-21 on Aug. 23 in Dublin, Ireland.

“Playing in Ireland (this year) is the first step,” Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said this summer. “Playing in Ireland is an impetus for future global expansion and I’m all in on it.”

Kansas has never played a game outside of the United States, whereas Arizona State lost to Houston in Tokyo in 1990.

The Jayhawks and Sun Devils met for the first time last season, with Arizona State pulling out a 35-31 win on Oct. 5 in Tempe, Ariz.

Falcons WRs Drake London, Darnell Mooney cleared to face Vikings

The Atlanta Falcons will have their top two receivers available Sunday night when they visit the Minnesota Vikings with Drake London and Darnell Mooney both cleared to play after recent shoulder injuries.

London, who left last week’s 23-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers late with a shoulder issue, practiced fully on Friday and carries no injury designation. The 23-year-old led Atlanta with 15 targets and finished with eight catches for 55 yards in Week 1 after a breakout 2024 season in which he ranked fourth in the NFL with 1,271 receiving yards.

Mooney, who injured his shoulder on the opening day of training camp and has not played since, will make his 2025 debut in Week 2. The veteran revitalized his career with the Falcons last season, posting 992 yards and a career-high five touchdowns.

The Falcons will be without offensive lineman Jack Nelson (calf), safety Jordan Fuller (knee), return specialist Jamal Agnew (groin) and reserve wide receiver Casey Washington (concussion). Rookie edge rusher James Pearce Jr. (groin), cornerback Billy Bowman Jr. (shoulder) and safety DeMarco Hellams (hamstring) are listed as questionable.

Falcons unclear of severity of WR Drake London (shoulder) injury

Falcons No. 1 receiver Drake London is scheduled to undergo tests to determined the severity of his right shoulder injury, but head coach Raheem Morris had no additional details following Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers.

London landed hard on his right shoulder in the end zone attempting to secure a touchdown pass from Michael Penix Jr. The Falcons initially believed it was ruled a touchdown before it was ruled incomplete, with the call standing after an instant-replay review.

London was targeted 15 times before leaving the game with eight receptions for 55 yards. His longest gain was 12 yards.

The Falcons played without wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who was ruled out with a shoulder injury that limited him most of training camp. The Falcons confirmed Mooney would miss multiple weeks at the outset of training camp because of the injury.

London caught 100 passes for 1,271 yards with nine touchdowns last season.

Roger Goodell: NFL working on adding Berlin game

The New York Giants and Carolina Panthers will close the 2024 NFL International Series with a game in Munich on Sunday, and commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL is working on adding a game in Berlin in 2025.

In fact, Goodell said Saturday the prospects are strong of playing a game in the German capital city next season.

“I usually say don’t believe rumors,” Goodell said Saturday at a fan event in Munich. “In this case, I say believe them.”

The league entered the German market in November 2022 with a game in Munich, and in 2023, Frankfurt Stadium hosted two games in that city.

Allianz Stadium in Munich is sold out for the Giants-Panthers clash, with about 70,000 seats to be filled.

The NFL International Series saw a game in Brazil and three in London this year, as well.

Plans call for eight games to be played outside the United States each year beginning in 2025, with more on tap when the NFL turns to an 18-game annual schedule.

Tank Bigsby, Jaguars jolt Patriots in London

Tank Bigsby rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 32-16 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday in London.

Trevor Lawrence threw for 193 yards and a touchdown for the Jaguars (2-5), who prevailed for the second time in their past three games after an 0-4 start.

The Patriots (1-6), in turn, lost their sixth game in a row after recording an opening week victory versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bigsby received the bulk of the workload for the Jaguars with fellow running back Travis Etienne Jr. out with a hamstring injury.

Bigsby eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark for the second time in three games and paced the Jaguars from the second quarter onward.

New England jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter in what was rookie quarterback Drake Maye’s second career start.

Maye completed 26 of 37 passes for 276 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes, including a 16-yarder to JaMycal Hasty to open the scoring.

But the Jaguars responded in the second quarter and started a run of 25 unanswered points after Lawrence found rookie Brian Thomas Jr. in the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown.

Jacksonville’s special teams helped solidify the Jaguars’ edge going into halftime when Parker Washington returned a punt 96 yards for a touchdown to boost the lead to 22-10.

Washington appeared to make an ill-advised catch of the punt inside his own 5-yard line. But he then found a seam and outraced the Patriots’ coverage team to the end zone.

New England had an opportunity to make its own comeback late in the third quarter when Maye completed three consecutive passes of 20 or more yards, capped by a 22-yard touchdown toss over the middle to K.J. Osborn. The Patriots, however, failed on a two-point try, which kept it a two-score game.

New England regained possession with 3:58 left, but its last drive ended with Maye being sacked by Travon Walker and an incomplete pass on fourth and 26 from his own 10.
