Raiders place DT Christian Wilkins on PUP list

The Las Vegas Raiders placed defensive tackle Christian Wilkins on the physically unable to perform list Friday.

Wilkins is working his way back from a season-ending injury to his left foot, suffered in the Raiders’ 34-18 loss to the Denver Broncos on Oct. 6.

He recorded 17 tackles and two sacks in five games (all starts) while playing in the first season of a four-year, $110 million contract with $84.75 million guaranteed.

Wilkins, 29, totaled 372 tackles, 22.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 86 career games (82 starts) with the Miami Dolphins and Raiders. He was selected by the Dolphins with the 13th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Clemson.

Panthers place RB Jonathon Brooks on PUP list, out for 2025

The Carolina Panthers placed running back Jonathon Brooks on the physically unable to perform list Thursday because of the torn ACL he sustained late last season.

Brooks’ move to the PUP list means he’s out for the entire 2025 season.

Carolina’s rushing attack last year was led by Chuba Hubbard.

Signed to a four-year, $33.2 million contract extension in November, Hubbard recorded career-high totals in rushing yards (1,195), rushing touchdowns (10) and catches (43) in 15 games (all starts) last season.

Brooks saw his rookie season come to an end after just three games and nine total carries following his right knee injury during the Panthers’ 22-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 8.

On a first-quarter run, Brooks planted his right foot in an attempt to cut to the outside and went down with a non-contact injury. He tried to limp off the field but had to be helped to the sideline.

A second-round draft pick out of Texas, Brooks still was recovering from ACL surgery on the same knee when the 2024 season began. His previous ACL injury occurred in the Longhorns’ victory over TCU in November 2023.

Brooks, 21, made his NFL debut on Nov. 24 against the Kansas City Chiefs and gained 7 yards on two carries. He gained 18 yards on six carries the following week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he was injured on his lone carry in Philadelphia.

Report: Bills’ Von Miller to stay on PUP list, out 4 games

Pass rusher Von Miller will miss at least the first four games of the season with the Buffalo Bills deciding not to remove him from the physically unable to perform list prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, ESPN reported.

Miller, 34, injured his right ACL in the Bills’ 28-25 victory over the Detroit Lions last Thanksgiving.

The eight-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro said in June that he would be ready for the season opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 11. Now, Miller will sit out that contest as well as games against the Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins — with an Oct. 8 clash versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in London as his earliest return date.

Miller recorded eight sacks and 21 tackles while forcing one fumble in 11 games (all starts) last season, his first since signing a six-year, $120 million contract.

He has totaled 123.5 sacks, 561 tackles, 27 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries in 161 career games (all starts) with the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams and Bills.

Miller was part of Super Bowl-winning teams in both Denver and Los Angeles.

Bills Pro Bowl CB Tre’Davious White designated for return from PUP list

Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White was designated to return from the physically unable to perform list, but he will not play this week when Buffalo matches up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

White, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, tore his ACL during a Thanksgiving Day win over the New Orleans Saints last season. He’s been on the PUP list and designated him for return gives the Bills a 21-day window to place White on the 53-man roster.

“We’re just excited for him to be out there,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said in confirming White would practice with the Bills on Wednesday for the first time since November.

“I don’t want to get into the details too much. We’re going to not only take it day by day, but play by play. Tre’ has worked extremely hard, but we want to crawl before we walk.”

After playing the Chiefs on Sunday, the Bills have a bye week before a game with the Green Bay Packers in Week 8.

White, 27, has spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with Buffalo and played in 72 games, all starts.

Saints WR Michael Thomas to open season on PUP list

New Orleans Saints All-Pro Michael Thomas will open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, ensuring the wide receiver will miss at least the first five games, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The Saints have a bye in Week 6.

Thomas underwent ankle surgery in June, reportedly infuriating Saints management who thought the procedure should have been done earlier in the offseason.

The friction was extended by Thomas, who earlier this month took to social media to accuse the Saints of trying to damage his reputation.

Thomas injured the ankle in Week 1 of the 2020 season and played in just seven games, finishing with 40 catches for 438 yards and no touchdowns.

Thomas, 28, is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro. He set the league’s single-season record in 2019 with 149 receptions for a league-best 1,725 yards.

Thomas signed a five-year, $96.3 million contract extension in 2019. He is due to earn $12.6 million in 2021 between base salary and a restructured bonus.
