Titans rule out K Randy Bullock for ‘TNF’

The Tennessee Titans ruled out kicker Randy Bullock for Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers and have tabbed journeyman Josh Lambo to replace him.

The team promoted Lambo to the 53-man roster on Wednesday. The Titans signed Lambo to the practice squad on Tuesday. It’ll mark Lambo’s first action in 2022.

Also, starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been removed from the injury report after two consecutive days of full participation in practice. He played last week for the first time in three weeks after injuring his ankle.

The Titans also waived wide receiver Chris Conley.

Bullock suffered a right (kicking leg) calf injury in last week’s game.

In 78 career games, Lambo has made 87.1 percent of his field goal tries and 89.9 percent of his PATs.

Lambo learned Wednesday that a judge dismissed his lawsuit against his former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lambo filed suit in May, alleging that former coach Urban Meyer created a hostile work environment that contributed to Lambo’s on-field performance dropping. Lambo alleged that Meyer kicked him and swore at him while he was working out in August 2021 before the Jaguars’ preseason finale.

Lambo’s attorney, Betsy Brown, told ESPN on Wednesday that they intend to file an amended complaint.

The Titans elevated linebacker Joe Schobert and defensive lineman Larrell Murchison to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Lions sign K Zane Gonzalez

The Detroit Lions signed free agent kicker Zane Gonzalez on Tuesday, setting up a competition with Randy Bullock for the kicking duties this season.

It’s a one-year deal for the former Arizona Cardinals kicker.

The Lions also waived kicker Matthew Wright.

The Lions are in search of a replacement for Matt Prater, who left in free agency to replace Gonzalez in Arizona.

Gonzalez, 26, played in 33 games in parts of three seasons for the Cardinals. He made just 72.7 percent of his field goal attempts in 2020 (12 games) before ending the season on injured reserve with a back injury. He converted 38 of 39 extra point attempts.

He began his career in Cleveland (2017-18).

Bullock also signed a one-year deal with the Lions in the offseason after spending the last four-plus seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. But he has struggled in camp with the Lions.

Bullock converted on 80.8 percent of his FG tries last season in 12 games, including a long of 55 yards. He made 24 of 25 PAT attempts. He began his career in Houston after the Texans drafted him in the fifth round in 2012. He kicked in 35 games for the Texans and also had brief stints with the New York Giants, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.
