A pass intended for New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (16) goes incomplete as Indianapolis Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes (27) reaches for the ball Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, during a game against the New England Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Reports: Bills hosting veteran CB Xavier Rhodes

All-Pro cornerback Xavier Rhodes is visiting the Buffalo Bills, who have a dire need at the position due to injuries.

Rhodes, 32, is a nine-year veteran and former first-round pick with 13 career interceptions in 133 games.

Buffalo kicked the tires on Rhodes in July, when it became clear top cornerback Tre’Davious White would begin the year on the shelf. Since the season began, White has had lots of company.

Safety Micah Hyde was lost for the season with a neck injury last week at Miami, and cornerback Christian Benford fractured his hand in the loss to the Dolphins. The Bills began that game with White, Dane Jackson (neck) and safety Jordan Poyer (foot) unavailable.

“You try to do your best with the resources you have,” coach Sean McDermott said in an update to the team’s health status in the secondary.

Rhodes spent the past two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, starting 29 games with three interceptions and 81 tackles.

Drafted 25th overall in 2013, Rhodes played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2013-19 and made the Pro Bowl three times.

Colts OT Eric Fisher, OG Quenton Nelson expected to play Week 2

Offensive tackle Eric Fisher completed practice and remains on target to play Sunday for the Indianapolis Colts.

It would be Fisher’s first game since rupturing his Achilles in the AFC Championship game in January. He also had a setback in training camp following a positive COVID-19 test.

Fisher could see time at left tackle when the Colts (0-1) host the Los Angeles Rams (1-0). Head coach Frank Reich said the team will give him another day before making a final decision.

All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson completed practice Friday, a rarity during the first two weeks of the season, and is “full go” for Sunday’s battle in the trenches with All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Cornerback Xavier Rhodes (calf) is out for a second consecutive game, Reich said.

Week 1 injury roundup: Colts CB Xavier Rhodes likely out

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes missed practice for the third consecutive day on Friday and is unlikely to play against the visiting Seattle Seahawks.

The Colts expect guard Quenton Nelson to be ready on Sunday after a back injury forced him to skip Wednesday’s workout.

–Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) was placed on injured reserve.

Samuel re-injured his groin, which was a concern for parts of the offseason, in practice earlier this week.

–Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker is out with a hand injury and could miss multiple games, head coach Dan Campbell said.

The next man up for the Lions is converted defensive lineman Matt Nelson. If things don’t go well against Nick Bosa and Dee Ford for Nelson, it’s possible the Lions would lean on first-round pick Penei Sewell.

Sewell is listed as the starter at right tackle on the Lions’ depth chart but played on the left side at Oregon.
