Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy hoping to leave hospital Monday

Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy is in “good spirits” after being shot in the leg at a concert last weekend and hopes to check out of the hospital on Monday, Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz told ESPN on Saturday.

Hardy, an All-American last season, returned to Columbia, Mo., earlier this week following the incident on May 10 at an outdoor concert in Mississippi.

Drinkwitz said Hardy still is in the hospital to monitor his wounds post-surgery, but he is walking and doing physical therapy three times a day, per ESPN.

On Thursday, police arrested Rashodrick Harris in Paducah, Ky., in connection with the shooting in Laurel, Miss.

Hardy, 20, is a Mississippi native. He began his career at Louisiana-Monroe, where he was named the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after he led the conference in rushing yards (1,351) and rushing touchdowns (13) on 237 attempts.

He transferred to Missouri, where he ranked second among FBS players with 1,649 rushing yards last season, a mark that broke the Tigers’ single-season record. He earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors, was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award and a consensus All-American while scoring 16 TDs and averaging 6.4 yards on his 256 rushing attempts.

49ers say DE Keion White shot in ankle, undergoes surgery

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White was shot in the ankle early Monday morning, the team announced Monday.

“Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle this morning in San Francisco. He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital. We will provide further updates when appropriate,” the 49ers wrote in a statement.

The incident reportedly happened at 4 a.m. PT and San Francisco Police spokesman Evan Sernoffsky told The Athletic that the altercation arose between two groups at an event White attended but White was believed not to have been involved with the altercation.

White was treated at San Francisco General Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury and is expected to be OK.

The 49ers acquired White, 26, on Oct. 28 from the New England Patriots. San Francisco sent its 2026 sixth-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for White and the Pats’ 2026 seventh-round selection.

Reports: Former NFL player Phillip Adams kills five, himself

Former NFL defensive back Phillip Adams shot and killed five people in South Carolina before committing suicide, according to multiple reports Thursday. Adams was 32.

The Herald of Rock Hill, S.C., citing unnamed sources, reported Adams killed Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, his wife, Barbara, 69, two of their grandchildren — Adah, 9, and Noah, 5 — and James Lewis, 38, on Wednesday in Rock Hill, S.C.

The York County Sheriff’s coroner’s office said Dr. Lesslie and his wife were pronounced dead at the scene, and that Lewis, who had been working at the home, was found shot to death outside.

The Herald reported that police tracked Adams to a home near the shooting site, where law enforcement officials said Adams is believed to have killed himself once police had him surrounded.

Per The Associated Press, Adams had been treated by the doctor prior to the shooting.

A sixth person, reportedly a maintenance person from the Lesslie home, was hospitalized with “serious gunshot wounds,” per The Herald.

Adams starred in football and basketball at Rock Hill High School, then attended South Carolina State. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Adams played in 78 career games (11 starts) in the NFL and recorded 128 tackles, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble with the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, then-Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons and 49ers.

Adams last played in 2015 with the Falcons.
