Dolphins to operate with co-offensive coordinators

Eric Studesville and George Godsey were named co-offensive coordinators of the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday.

The in-house candidates were position coaches for the Dolphins last season and were promoted to replace Chan Gailey. The 69-year-old Gailey resigned on Jan. 6.

Gailey was coaxed out of retirement before the 2020 season to replace Chad O’Shea.

Head coach Brian Flores filled the offensive coordinator role for the third time in three seasons in Miami.

As tight ends coach, Godsey also assumed an increased role with the Dolphins as a sideline tutor for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa last season.

Studesville was the team’s running backs coach last season.

The Dolphins did not announce how play-calling would be handled or if the coaches are being divided into running game and passing game coordinators.

During the Senior Bowl last week, Flores allowed both assistants to call plays for one half of the draft prospect all-star game.
