Wisconsin adds dual-threat QB Colton Joseph from Old Dominion

Colton Joseph, Wisconsin’s top target at quarterback, has arrived in Madison, the junior signal-caller announced on social media on Sunday.

Joseph just completed his sophomore season at Old Dominion, where he earned Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year honors. The Newport Beach, Calif. native threw for 2,624 yards, with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He finished eighth in the country in total offense at 302.6 yards per contest.

The dual-threat quarterback also rushed for 1,007 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground.

In two seasons with the Monarchs, Joseph accounted for 54 total touchdowns. He completed 59.8% of his passes while rushing for 6.1 yards per carry.

Wisconsin was snake-bit by injuries at the quarterback position in 2025. Opening day starter Billy Edwards Jr. — who just announced his transfer to North Carolina — suffered an injury in his first game and only appeared in one more contest.

Three quarterbacks combined to throw nine touchdowns but also 13 interceptions for Wisconsin (4-8) this season. The Badgers scored a total of 154 points (12.8 per game), with only Massachusetts scoring fewer points per game at 11.1 among all FBS teams.

Joseph joins current Badgers Danny O’Neil, Carter Smith and incoming freshman Ryan Hopkins as quarterback candidates for Wisconsin in 2026.

Reports: Ole Miss QB Austin Simmons eyeing SEC rival in portal

Austin Simmons, who began the season as Ole Miss’ starting quarterback but lost the job after an injury, plans to enter the transfer portal with a no-contact tag, multiple reports said Friday.

Simmons is expected to land at SEC rival Missouri, according to On3 and ESPN reports.

Ole Miss is still alive for a national championship after beating Georgia; the No. 6 seed upset its third-seeded rivals 39-34 on Thursday in a quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl. Per the reports, Simmons plans to stay with the Rebels throughout their College Football Playoff run.

Simmons started the Rebels’ season opener and threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns in a 63-7 rout of Georgia State. The next week against Kentucky, he tossed two interceptions and injured his left ankle in a 30-23 victory.

Trinidad Chambliss started the next week against Arkansas, and the Rebels never looked back. The transfer from Division II Ferris State has amassed 3,660 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions while adding 520 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground this year. Chambliss finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting.

As for Simmons, he has appeared in 17 games for Ole Miss across 2024-25 and thrown for 1,026 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. He also played baseball for the Rebels early in his college career.

The coach who recruited him to Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin, left after the regular season to take over at LSU.

Missouri lost starting quarterback Beau Pribula to the transfer portal and could be a landing spot for Simmons to become a starter again.

Alabama WR Ryan Williams rolling with Tide in 2026

If you expected Ryan Williams to run an out route after a challenging sophomore season at Alabama, he already has changed the play to a comeback.

Williams said Tuesday during Rose Bowl media access that he never considered transferring despite facing a decline in production and 10 dropped passes in 2025.

“I had a lot of ups, people considered last year, and just learning how to deal with those,” Williams said of his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide. “And I’ve had a lot of downs, people considered this year, and I’ve learned how to deal with those. Really just an opportunity to stay human and have empathy for others, because I’ve been through some things. It’s been a blessing to go through all the ups, all the downs, all the arounds.”

After only one reception for 5 yards at Oklahoma in the first round on Dec. 19, perhaps public opinion of Williams has dropped off with his production. He has 43 receptions for 636 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games this season.

Teammates, including quarterback Ty Simpson, haven’t seen any decline in his work ethic or preparation. Simpson called Williams the “most selfless person I know” and called him vital to the Crimson Tide offense.

Williams, who averaged 18 yards per reception with 48 grabs and eight TD catches as a freshman last season, curbed talk of his potential exit from Alabama at Tuesday’s media day ahead of the Rose Bowl matchup with No. 1 Indiana on Thursday. He plans to remain in Tuscaloosa when the transfer portal opens Jan. 2.

Williams didn’t mask his excitement for potentially playing a bigger role with an opportunity to deliver a splash game for the No. 9 Crimson Tide against the Hoosiers.

“That’s something at the front of my mind: Just continue to be my best self, day in and day out, and really just maximize the opportunity when it comes,” said Williams, who turns 19 in February.

Even if a breakout game on par with his standout freshman season doesn’t happen this week for Williams, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer seems confident the fruits of hard work are going to pay off in massive ways.

“People can always say stuff, but they don’t know. When you’re there with him and you see the smile, the work, the team-first attitude that he has, you can’t help but root for him, whether it’s as a coach or whether it’s as a teammate,” DeBoer said.

“I just love the guy,” the coach continued. “The guy is super talented, and it hasn’t been the perfect year. But everyone in this room, all the players, I know that they have nothing but love and giving them the support that they have because every day when he steps on the football field, he’s trying to overcome and help us be better. And I know that’s what he’s done the last week and a half. And he’s going to have a game like he’s had at different times where he goes off, and I’m just waiting for that moment because when it is, it’s going to be awesome. And we’re all going to be super happy for him. And I know that it’s coming sooner than later.”

Utah All-American DE John Henry Daley to transfer

Utah’s All-American defensive end John Henry Daley announced plans on Tuesday to enter the transfer portal.

Daley was tied for the Big 12 in tackles for loss (17.5) and ranked fifth in the nation in sacks (11.5) in 11 games in 2025.

The All-Big 12 first-team selection and Bednarik Award semifinalist’s season ended with a lower-body injury on Nov. 22.

Daley said his injury rehab gave him “time to pray and reflect on my future.”

“I will be entering the transfer portal fully healthy by the spring of 2026,” he posted Tuesday on X.

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound redshirt sophomore from Alpine, Utah who spent his first season at BYU in 2023, has two years of eligibility remaining.

One potential landing spot for Daley is Michigan, which hired longtime Utes coach Kyle Whittingham last week.

The NCAA transfer portal opens Friday.

Texas’ leading rusher Tre Wisner entering portal

Leading rusher Tre Wisner is the latest Texas running back planning to enter the transfer portal, his agent confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

The junior has rushed for 597 yards and three touchdowns and caught 22 passes for 146 yards and one score in nine games this season.

Wisner saved his biggest moments for the Longhorns’ biggest rivals, gaining 128 yards from scrimmage in a 23-6 win against Oklahoma on Oct. 11 and rushing for 155 yards in a 27-17 win against Texas A&M on Nov. 28.

No. 13 Texas (9-3) finishes the season against No. 18 Michigan (9-3) in the Citrus Bowl next Wednesday in Orlando.

Wisner also topped Texas with 1,064 rushing yards in 2024. In three seasons in Austin, he accumulated 2,191 yards from scrimmage with 11 touchdowns in 38 games.

Other Longhorns running backs linked to the transfer portal include C.J. Baxter, Jerrick Gibson and Rickey Stewart Jr. The portal officially opens on Jan. 2.

Texas hired Florida associate head coach and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke on Dec. 12 to replace fired running backs coach Chad Scott.

Standout Gators running back Jadan Baugh, an All-SEC choice in 2025 with 1,170 rushing yards, could potentially follow Juluke to Texas if he decides to leave Gainesville.

Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss hoping for additional eligibility

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is awaiting word as to whether he will be granted a sixth year of eligibility, a decision that has millions of dollars in NIL money on the line.

ESPN reported Thursday that Ole Miss filed a waiver petition on Nov. 16 in hopes the NCAA Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement would grant the request. Per the ESPN report, however, the NCAA apparently is seeking more information.

Chambliss, 23, is a transfer from Division II Ferris State who led the Rebels to the College Football Playoff. They will meet Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.

Chambliss took a redshirt in his freshman season in 2021. The following season, he didn’t play because of a respiratory issue. The waiver request is seeking to get that season back, and the NCAA reportedly wants more medical information from that year.

ESPN reported the quest for eligibility is far from a slam dunk, so much so that Chambliss retained attorney Tom Mars to assist with the case last week. Mars has worked on several eligibility cases.

Chambliss’ waiver application now includes a seven-page letter that, per ESPN, outlines the millions the quarterback stands to gain or lose. Mars’ letter said Chambliss would “suffer irreparable harm” without the waiver.

The quarterback was eighth in Heisman Trophy voting after a season in which he threw for 3,298 yards with19 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also ran for 506 yards and eight touchdowns.

In the first-round CFP win over Tulane, he was 23-of-29 passing for 282 yards. The Rebels won 41-10.

Although Ole Miss has been assisting with the application, there is no guarantee Chambliss would return to the Rebels if the waiver is granted. A logical landing spot would be deep-pocketed LSU, where ex-Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is now in charge, if he transfers.

The transfer portal opens Jan. 2.

Mars told ESPN this issue should have been settled by now.

“I’m baffled why this waiver wasn’t granted back in November just based on the irrefutable, objective evidence,” he said.

“The NCAA is attempting to impose a higher burden of proof on a young man who is without any fault, has satisfied all the requirements of the NCAA rules, and who’s been an outstanding representative of college football — both on and off the field.”

Hansen, who stands 6-foot-8, is coming off the most productive season of his career, with 30 receptions for 254 yards and two touchdowns for the Gators.

Transfer portal roundup: Several top QBs on the move

Florida’s DJ Lagway is entering the transfer portal next month after two seasons with the Gators, he announced Monday.

The sophomore passer was a five-star recruit in former coach Billy Napier’s 2024 signing class, ranked as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 3 overall prospect by 247Sports.

Lagway completed 63.2% of his passes for 2,264 yards with 16 touchdowns and an SEC-high 14 interceptions in 12 games this season for the 4-8 Gators. He directed a win against then-No. 9 Texas on Oct. 4 but finished 1-6 against ranked opponents.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an incredible program here at the University of Florida,” Lagway posted on Instagram. “After much prayer, reflection, and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”

The 6-foot-3 quarterback’s two-year totals included 4,179 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and 23 picks in 24 games. Lagway went 6-1 as a starter as a true freshman in 2024, including wins against LSU, Ole Miss, Florida State and Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Florida fired Napier after a 3-4 start and hired former Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall to take over the program on Nov. 30.

The transfer portal opens Jan. 2 and players have until Jan. 16 to submit their names. Players competing in the College Football Playoff final will have an extended window from Jan. 20-24.

–Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola is set to enter the transfer portal, according to multiple media reports Monday.

Raiola has not played since suffering a broken fibula in the Cornhuskers’ 21-17 loss to Southern California on Nov. 1. The injury ended his season but is not expected to prevent him from being ready to play at the start of next season.

In his second season with the Cornhuskers, Raiola completed 72.4% of his passes for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Rumors of a Raiola departure from Nebraska started swirling in late November when his younger brother, three-star quarterback Dayton, decommitted from Nebraska’s 2026 class. His uncle, offensive line coach Donovan Raiola, was fired by Nebraska on Dec. 6.

The father of Dylan and Dayton is former NFL offensive lineman Dominic Raiola, an All-American and Nebraska Football Hall of Fame inductee.

–Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles will enter the portal after two seasons with the Spartans, he confirmed to ESPN.

A junior with one year of eligibility remaining, Chiles began his career at Oregon State and has played in 30 games with the Spartans (2024-25) and Beavers (2023).

Chiles has completed 61.3% of his passes for 4,116 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He has rushed for 531 yards and 12 scores.

Chiles enjoyed one of his best games in 2025 against current No. 1 Indiana, completing 27 of 33 passes for 243 yards and one TD in Michigan State’s 38-13 loss on Oct. 18 in Bloomington, Ind.

–Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.

Sorsby has one season of eligibility remaining and could also enter the NFL draft instead of returning to college. He won’t play in Cincinnati’s bowl game against Navy, ESPN reported.

Sorsby spent 2022 and 2023 at Indiana and made seven starts for the Hoosiers as a redshirt freshman in 2023. At Cincinnati, he’s compiled 5,613 passing yards, 45 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions plus 1,027 rushing yards and 18 TDs over 24 games.

A return to Indiana could be in the cards. The Hoosiers developed Cal transfer Fernando Mendoza into a Heisman Trophy winner and Mendoza’s collegiate career will last till the end of No. 1 Indiana’s run in the College Football Playoff.
