CB Tre'Davious White: Signed by Los Angeles Rams (previous team: Buffalo Bills)

Reports: Bills bring back CB Tre’Davious White

The Buffalo Bills are reuniting with cornerback Tre’Davious White, who came to terms with his former team on a one-year deal worth up to $6.8 million, ESPN and NFL Network reported Thursday.

White, 30, was the Bills’ first-round draft pick in 2017 and spent seven years with the team, though his final two-plus seasons were marred by injuries.

He was released after the 2023 campaign and signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams, but after starting just four games he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

White will hope to return to the form he enjoyed in Buffalo, where he was a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro selection, including to the first team in 2019. He led the NFL with six interceptions that year and finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year balloting.

White suffered a torn ACL in his left knee on Thanksgiving in 2021. He made his return late in the 2022 season, appearing in six games plus two playoff games. Then, four games into 2023, he tore his Achilles.

In 93 career games (86 starts) for Buffalo, Los Angeles and Baltimore, White has tallied 333 tackles, 18 interceptions, 73 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

Report: Rams open to trading CB Tre’Davious White

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Tre’Davious White, who has been inactive for the past two games, is discussing his future with the team, which could include a trade, ESPN reported Saturday.

The Rams are reportedly still open to keeping White but are also open to moving him to another team with a need at his position, per the report.

White was added to the inactive list in Week 6 when Darious Williams returned from a hamstring injury.

A former first-team All-Pro in 2019, White has 12 tackles and two passes defensed in four games (all starts) this season.

White signed a one-year, $8.5 million deal with the Rams in March as he was working his way back from a torn Achilles that limited him to just four games last season with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills released White, saving the team $10.2 million in cap space.

Though healthy so far this season, White missed 30 games from 2021-2023 due to various injuries.

White was drafted in the first round in 2017 out of LSU and spent his first seven seasons in Buffalo, highlighted by his 2019 season when he tied for the NFL lead with six interceptions.

White had 18 interceptions, 311 tackles, 68 passes defended and five forced fumbles with the Bills.

He tore his left ACL on Thanksgiving in 2021 and returned late in the 2022 season for six regular-season games and two playoff games. He has played 14 games combined over the past three seasons.

Bills to place CB Tre’Davious White on PUP list

Buffalo Bills All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list, coach Sean McDermott said Sunday.

White sustained a torn ACL in the second quarter of the Bills’ 31-6 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 25.

“He looks really good,” McDermott said. “He’s working his tail off. Tre is a consummate pro, so that has not changed. We’re just excited to get him back when we can get him back.”

White was an All-Pro selection in 2019. He recorded 41 tackles, an interception and six passes defensed in 11 games in 2021.

The Bills selected White in the first round (No. 27 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The 27-year-old has played in 72 games (all starts) for Buffalo and has 279 tackles, 16 interceptions, three sacks, five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in his career.

McDermott also said guard Ike Boettger (Achilles) and defensive tackle Eli Ankou (undisclosed injury) will be on the PUP list, and guard Rodger Saffold will be placed on the non-football injury list after injuring his ribs in a car accident.

“We’re always concerned for the guys off the field,” McDermott said of Saffold. “And obviously anyone involved in that accident, the same. But we feel confident that he’ll be back in due time.”

The Bills begin the regular season Sept. 8 on the road against the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

Reports: Bills CB White signs 4-year $70M extension

All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White agreed to a four-year, $70 million contract extension with the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, multiple outlets reported.

The deal includes $55 million guaranteed and brings the total value of his contract to $82.1 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter said the numbers were confirmed by White’s agents and would mark the most guaranteed money ever for a cornerback. “His new money average also is the highest,” Schefter said.

White, 25, earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2019 after tying for the NFL lead with six interceptions. He also recorded 58 tackles and two forced fumbles.

He has 12 interceptions and 181 tackles in 47 career starts since being selected by the Bills with the 27th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. The lone contest he missed was the 2019 finale when Buffalo rested key players ahead of its postseason game.
