Bengals QB Joe Burrow (knee) on injury report, practices

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is back on the injury report with a knee issue but was a full participant in practice Wednesday.

Wide receiver Tee Higgins (thumb) was also a full participant despite being included on the injury list.

Rookie edge rusher Cam Sample (groin) did not practice. Nine-game starting defensive tackle Josh Tupou (knee) was limited. Reserve wide receiver Stanley Morgan (hamstring) was also limited.

Tupou started against the Tennessee Titans in last week’s AFC divisional game. He played just five snaps before getting injured. He played in all 17 games for the Bengals, starting nine.

The Bengals will play Kansas City on Sunday in the AFC Championship game.

Burrow was not on the injury report last week, ahead of the Bengals-Titans game. He completed 75.7 percent of his passes and threw for 348 yards with an interception against the Titans, but was sacked nine times.

Burrow said Wednesday the team is working on non-verbal communication, given how loud he expects Arrowhead Stadium to be.

“In the SEC, every single week it seems like every stadium is really loud, there’s hundreds of thousands of people,” Burrow said. “This one is going to be similar. We expect it to be really loud, we’re talking about it throughout the week. We’re going to have to be great with our communication, our non-verbal communication, just like every week on the road.”

Speaking of communication, Burrow said he lost head coach Zac Taylor last Sunday due to a problem with his headset. The sophomore sensation was forced to call his own plays until his headset functioned again.

“Zac always jokes don’t pretend like the headset goes out so you can call your own plays,” Burrow said. “All of them worked — that was fun.”

Bengals DT Josh Tupou inactive vs. Raiders

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Josh Tupou is one of the team’s inactives for Saturday’s AFC wild-card game against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders.

Tupou injured his knee during last Sunday’s 21-16 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He didn’t practice all week and was listed as doubtful.

Tupou started nine of 17 games played this season and had 12 tackles.

The Raiders will have defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins on the field. He was questionable with back and knee injuries.

Hankins had 38 tackles in 14 regular-season games.
