New Commanders uniforms coming on April 15

The Washington Commanders will unveil their new uniforms for the 2026 season on April 15, the team announced Thursday with a video teaser on social media.

Reports from the nation’s capital have suggested that the team is planning to permanently adopt the “Super Bowl Era” throwback uniforms introduced last season.

The Commanders wore those uniforms, featuring white jerseys and burgundy helmets and pants — as their alternate look for three games in 2025.

The Commanders, who formally changed the team name and logo in 2022 after two seasons as the Washington Football Team, were known controversially as the Washington Redskins from 1937 to 2019. The franchise won Super Bowls during the 1982, 1987 and 1991 seasons.

“These uniforms recognize the most successful era of our franchise — one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase,” team president Mark Clouse said when the Super Bowl Era uniforms were unveiled. “Our coaches, players and the entire organization could not be more excited to celebrate our team’s legacy while creating new memories in these uniforms this season.”

Since that 1991 Super Bowl championship, Washington has qualified for the postseason just eight times.

Falcons to reveal new uniforms on April 2

The Atlanta Falcons will reveal their new uniforms on April 2, the team announced Monday.

In a 45-second video posted to their social media channels, multiple players are shown positively reacting to the new uniforms without actually showing any glimpses of the new threads.

Multiple reports have said the Falcons are going to switch to red jerseys as their primary home uniform.

Atlanta introduced its current uniforms with an “ATL” abbreviation above the numbers in 2020. Red helmets – which replicate those worn in 2009-12 – were brought back as an alternate to the regular black helmets in 2022.

Patriots elect to wear all white for Super Bowl

The New England Patriots will wear white jerseys and white pants in Super Bowl LX next weekend in Santa Clara, Calif., ESPN reported Thursday.

As the designated home team for the game against the Seattle Seahawks, New England got its call on the uniform color scheme.

Those colors brought the Patriots good luck in the AFC Championship Game last Sunday in Denver. They were wearing white tops and bottoms in that game, a 10-7 win over the Broncos.

The Patriots-focused website Pats Pulpit reported the team wore the white-and-white combination five times in the 2025 regular season and playoffs and were 5-0.

The same site broke down the uniform combination for each of the Patriots’ 11 prior Super Bowl appearances, and they’ve never worn white jerseys and white pants.

Their Super Bowl record is 0-1 with red jerseys and white pants; 0-1 with white jerseys and silver pants; 2-2 with blue jerseys and silver pants; and 4-1 with white jerseys and blue pants.

This will be the fifth consecutive Super Bowl appearance in the white jerseys for New England. They wore the white jerseys and blue pants in their 28-24 win over the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1, 2015, in Glendale, Ariz.

The Washington Commanders unveiled throwback uniforms for the 2025 season on Wednesday.

Commanders’ throwback uniforms evoke ‘Super Bowl Era’

While the Washington fan base discusses a throwback name, the Commanders confirmed the team is bringing back its “Super Bowl Era” uniforms this season.

The Commanders, who formally changed the team name and logo in 2022 and plan to stick with it, reintroduced the uniform concept used from 1981-92 as an alternate option starting this season.

They will debut the vintage look on Nov. 2 against the visiting Seattle Seahawks on “Sunday Night Football.” They will wear it again for a Nov. 30 primetime date with the visiting Denver Broncos and at home on Christmas Day vs. the rival Dallas Cowboys.

“We are excited to celebrate Washington’s incredible history with these iconic, Super Bowl Era uniforms this season,” team president Mark Clouse said in a statement. “Ever since Josh Harris and our ownership group acquired the team back in 2023, they’ve placed great value in finding ways to connect the past and present and honor those that made the burgundy and gold what it is today.

“These uniforms recognize the most successful era of our franchise — one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase. Our coaches, players and the entire organization could not be more excited to celebrate our team’s legacy while creating new memories in these uniforms this season.”

Washington wore the uniforms during its three Super Bowl victories and Harris, who grew up rooting for the team, said restoring as much of the tradition as possible without returning to the old Native American nickname and logo was part of the marketing plan.

Harris repeated that the franchise is not considering reverting to the former team name despite recent suggestions from President Donald Trump that he wouldn’t have changed the name.

An image featuring NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels, tight end Zach Ertz and safety Jeremy Reaves in the new kits was released by the team on Wednesday. The burgundy pants and helmet with three stripes and white jersey tops are most familiar to fans of the bygone era, with a “W” on the helmet above each ear hole where the old logo once was.

Titans to wear Oilers throwbacks for two games

The Tennessee Titans will pay homage to their roots and wear Houston Oilers throwback uniforms for two home games in 2023.

The franchise was known as the Houston Oilers from 1960-1996 before moving to Tennessee. They kept the Oilers uniforms for 1997-98 while playing home games in Memphis and Nashville before fully rebranding to the Tennessee Titans in 1999.

The uniforms were revealed Sunday night.

“It allows us to honor as many players as we can, because it covers so much time,” Titans vice president and executive creative director Surf Melendez told the team website. “It also represented our transition to Tennessee, because we wore these uniforms in Tennessee as well.”

The two home games to feature the throwbacks have yet to be finalized.

The Titans were interested in wearing the throwbacks for a “Monday Night Football” road game at the Miami Dolphins on Dec. 11 but have not received approval from the league, ESPN reported.

Tennessee is following a league-wide trend of introducing throwbacks into the uniform rotation in the wake of the NFL rolling back its “one-shell rule” last year. The Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks are among the team who have unveiled throwback uniform plans in recent weeks.

“Can’t wait to see our old uniforms on the field again!” Oilers legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon wrote on social media. “Best looking outfit in football. Go Titans.”
