Giants WR Malik Nabers out vs. Seahawks

New York Giants star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the host Seattle Seahawks, head coach Brian Daboll announced Friday.

Nabers remains in concussion protocol and will not travel with the Giants (1-3) to the Emerald City to face the Seahawks (3-1).

He was injured while attempting to hold onto the ball along the sideline during a fourth-and-6 play with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in a 20-15 loss to the visiting Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 26.

Nabers, 21, has a league-high 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns in four games since being selected by New York with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.

Wan’Dale Robinson, who is nursing a heel injury, and Darius Slayton would be looked upon to pick up the slack in place of Nabers.

Also on Friday, Daboll said running back Devin Singletary (groin) is expected to work on the field. The coach added that cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson (calf) and Dru Phillips (calf) are “trending in the right direction.”

Better call OBJ? Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson has torn ACL

Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson is out for the season and likely part of offseason workouts with a torn right ACL, head coach Brian Daboll confirmed on Monday as New York opens a short week of preparation for a Thanksgiving game with the Dallas Cowboys.

Robinson caught nine passes for 100 yards on Sunday before he left the loss to the Detroit Lions. He ends his rookie season with 23 catches for 227 yards with one score in six games (three starts).

Wide receiver depth has been a constant concern for the Giants this season with purported No. 1 receiver Kenny Golladay bumped down the pecking order based on production and injuries.

The Giants traded 2021 first-round pick Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs for third- and sixth-round picks last month.

Sterling Shepherd was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 28 with a torn ACL, joining Collin Johnson among players at that position lost for the year. Johnson went on IR in August with a torn Achilles.

With more changes atop the depth chart, the Giants might be even more eager to sit down with Odell Beckham Jr. A free agent planning to take a closer look at his options starting this week, Beckham had ACL surgery following the Super Bowl in February.

He’s scheduled to meet in-person later this week with the Giants and Cowboys and could consider others, FOX Sports reported Sunday.

Giants WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring) doubtful vs. Cowboys

New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney did not participate in practice for the second straight day Saturday and is doubtful to play in Monday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Toney, 23, has been nursing a sore hamstring since the preseason. He was limited to seven snaps in New York’s 21-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 11 and 28 snaps — with two catches for zero yards — in a 19-16 win over the Carolina Panthers last Sunday.

Rookie receiver Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) and cornerbacks Justin Layne (concussion), Nick McCloud (hamstring) and Aaron Robinson (appendix) have been ruled out versus the Cowboys.

Starting defensive tackle Leonard Williams (knee) is considered doubtful, while linebackers Azeez Ojulari (calf) and rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) are questionable to face Dallas.

Nebraska WR Wan’Dale Robinson plans to transfer

Nebraska wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, who led the Cornhuskers with 51 receptions this season, announced via social media on Monday that he intends to transfer.

Robinson posted on Twitter that his mother contracted COVID-19 and that it has complicated matters due to her previous health issues. He said he intends to transfer to a school closer to his mother’s home in Kentucky.

As a freshman in 2019, Robinson had 40 receptions for 453 yards and two touchdowns for the Cornhuskers before he collected 461 yards on 51 catches this season with one TD. No other Nebraska player had more than 18 receptions in the 2020 season.

“To my teammates, I will miss you guys more than you’ll ever know and I wish you all the best of luck on the next season,” Robinson posted. “I hope the bond we created will not be broken based on where each of us play. I will cherish every moment I had with you guys and my love for all of you won’t change.”

Nebraska went just 3-5 in the 2020 season, all in Big Ten Conference games, but did win two of its last three contests.
