Raiders put RB Zamir White on IR; add QB Carter Bradley to roster

The Las Vegas Raiders placed running back Zamir White on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season.

Also on Tuesday, Las Vegas signed Carter Bradley to the 53-man active roster and fellow quarterback Jake Luton to the practice squad. Those moves come on the heels of quarterback Aidan O’Connell nursing a bone bruise to his knee.

The reeling Raiders (2-11) have lost nine in a row heading into Monday’s game against the visiting Atlanta Falcons (6-7).

White has been sidelined since sustaining a quad injury in Las Vegas’ 34-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 17.

The move requires White to sit out four games and the Raiders have four contests remaining on their schedule.

White, 25, has rushed 65 times for just 183 yards and one touchdown in eight games (five starts) this season. He also has six catches for 30 yards.

He has totaled 704 yards rushing and two touchdowns to go along with 21 receptions for 128 yards in 39 games (nine starts) since being selected by Las Vegas in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia.

Bradley, 24, has been with the Raiders’ practice squad all season after entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of South Alabama.

Also, Las Vegas signed Tyler Manoa to its practice squad and released fellow defensive tackle Marquan McCall.

Bucs rookie RB Bucky Irving active vs. reeling Raiders

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving is active for Sunday’s game against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders.

Irving, the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week, was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game due to hip and back injuries.

Irving, 22, has team-leading totals in carries (133), rushing yards (732) and rushing touchdowns (six) in 12 games this season. He also has 35 catches for 285 yards.

While Irving is in the lineup, the Buccaneers (6-6) listed the following players as inactive: linebackers K.J. Britt and J.J. Russell, defensive line Earnest Brown, tight end Devin Culp, safety Mike Edwards, cornerback Josh Hayes and edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

Losers of eight in a row, the Raiders (2-10) will be without running backs Zamir White and Alexander Mattison for the third straight game. Ameer Abdullah and Sincere McCormick are expected to lead the ground attack on Sunday.

Las Vegas also listed cornerback Nate Hobbs, guard Cody Whitehair, tight end Justin Shorter and defensive end Janarius Robinson as inactive.

Georgia RB Zamir White declares for NFL Draft

Zamir White is leaving Athens, Ga. for the National Football League.

The Georgia junior running back announced Friday on his Instagram account that he is declaring for the upcoming NFL Draft, which will be held April 28-30.

“This season was an absolute thrill from start to finish and bringing a National Championship to Athens was the ultimate reward,” White wrote in a statement. “These are memories I will never forget and will surely last a lifetime. It’s what prepared me for this next step as I proudly announce my intention to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft!”

White is the second Georgia running back to declare for the draft. James Cook announced his decision Wednesday.

White was the leader in the backfield this season for the Bulldogs. He rushed for 856 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He also caught nine passes for 75 yards.

In the national championship, White scored the first touchdown of the game on a 1-yard rush in the third quarter. White had 13 carries for 84 yards for the Bulldogs, who went on to a 33-18 win over Alabama.

White leaves Georgia having rushed for 2,043 yards and 25 touchdowns across three seasons.

With White and Cook departing, the Bulldogs likely will lean on Kenny McIntosh and Kendall Milton in the backfield next season. The duo combined for 592 yards and four touchdowns on the ground in 2021. McIntosh also had 242 receiving yards.
