Promising young Green Bay Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang will be sidelined until training camp after having surgery on his left wrist last month.

Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee reports that Lang is expected to be held out of OTA’s, which begin next week in Green Bay, but that the fourth-round pick in 2009 from Eastern Michigan will be ready well in advance of camp.

Lang played in all 16 regular-season games as a rookie, making three starts in the middle of the season when injuries decimated the line. Lang got time at both tackle positions but coach Mike McCarthy has indicated that his future could be at left guard where he is expected to compete with veterans Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz for the starting job. There has been talk in the past, too, that Lang could project as the right tackle of the future.

The good news is he will be able to compete when camp arrives.
