Tom Condon met with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday in an effort to bring the sides closer on what eventually should be a blockbuster contract for Drew Brees.

The quarterback is in the final year of his contract, and Condon told Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he spent much of the day with general manager Mickey Loomis working on the matter.

Brees, obviously, will be looking for a deal in line with what Peyton Manning received from the Indianapolis Colts and Tom Brady got from the New England Patriots. If Michael Vick can score a massive deal, surely the 32-year-old Brees can do better. The franchise tag could come into play but the Saints would be far better rolling guaranteed money needed for a tag into a long-term deal.
