It wasn’t too far a stretch to think that in the wake of Mississippi’s 23-17 upset win over top-ranked Alabama and Mississippi State’s annihilation of Texas A&M last Saturday that both schools could be headed for a letdown against conference foes this past weekend.
Neither school required more than a quarter of action to put that theory to bed.
Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs (6-0) pounded second-ranked Auburn 38-23 to grab the top spot in the Associated Press poll while continuing to climb the college football championship odds board at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. Entering the week at 25/1, Mississippi State now resides in a tie for the second spot behind defending champion Florida State (5/1) at 7/1.
Dak Prescott and the Bulldogs continue to take the nation by storm.
Not to be outdone, Hugh Freeze’s Rebels executed a near-flawless defensive game plan to rock Texas A&M 35-20 en route to moving from 15/1 to 8/1.
Mississippi State takes a much-deserved bye this weekend, while Ole Miss has been bet down from -18.5 to -16.5 for Saturday’s home showdown with Tennessee, per Sportsbook Review.com.
After suffering a 31-24 home loss to Arizona on October 2, the Oregon Ducks rebounded to manhandle UCLA in Pasadena on Saturday, 42-30. The win advanced Oregon from 20/1 to 10/1 while dropping the Bruins from 20/1 to 100/1.
Baylor’s thrilling 61-58 come-from-behind victory over TCU surprisingly moved the Bears from 10/1 to 12/1 while downgrading the Horned Frogs from 25/1 to 50/1.
