The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed linebacker and special-teams contributor Fred Dean, the team announced.
Dean was scheduled to be a restricted free agent.
Dean has played in 48 games, recording 48 career special-teams tackles.
He finished second on the team the past two seasons.
He had four special-teams tackles, a career-high, against the Ravens last season.
He set a career-high with 18 special-teams tackles.
Dean forced and recovered fumbles against the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.
