Arizona WR Ed Gant suspended four 4 games

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Ed Gant has been suspended for four games for a violation of the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances, according to the team’s Web site.

Gant is (or was) a possibility to become the fourth wide receiver for the Cardinals, who are looking for some depth after the departure of Anquan Boldin. Gant, who is the brother of well-traveled veteran cornerback Philip Buchanon, will be eligible to participate in training camp but will then have to split for the first four weeks of the season.

Gant’s chances could have been slim already. The team’s Web site speculates that O.J. Jones has enjoyed a better offseason and the club spent a third-round draft pick on Andre Roberts of The Citadel.

Cardinals tight end Ben Patrick was suspended for four games last year for violating the league’s policy on performancing-enhancing drugs.
