The Sports Quotient’s annual Draft Preview series returns! Over the course of the ten weeks leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft, we will take a look at the top NFL prospects at each position. This second week, the focus is on cornerbacks. Today's CB is Marcus Peters from Washington.

College Career

His last two seasons have been productive, grabbing 5 picks in 2013 and adding 3 INTs and not allowing a catch in 9 games of 2014. Peters's career ended on a sour note after he got suspended following a sideline tirade about a personal foul call. Washington suspended him in November, ending his season early. His only major contest in 2014 was against Oregon, but he dominated small schools in games. 

Pros

Measuring 6'0" and 197 lbs with long arms and big hands at the Combine this week, Peters is the perfect size for a pro CB. He's a fiery player and he can beat most WRs to the ball. His speed bursts make him the winner of most catching battles and give him a good range. Work ethic, confidence and toughness are all praised in Peters's game. 

Cons

Peters had a bad combine. Throughout his career his speed and quickness were what brought scouts to see him, but his 40 time was slow (4.53) and while his 60-yard shuttle time (11.56) was good enough for 5th place among all CBs, scouts expected more out of the defensive back. Peters's attitude, along with netting him suspensions, is a factor on the field. His emotions seem to get the best of him at times. Peters also seems to have some trouble reading good offenses. He often guesses on plays incorrectly, and he doesn't have the athletic awareness to get back in the play (Peters is at the top here):

Grade

I really like Peters's size and skill, but I'm concerned about his combine performance and attitude. He is definitely an athletic player, but he hasn't shown up in major games against high quality opponents. His emotions need to be in check at the next level to succeed. If he reels himself in, I can see him having a great NFL career. Right now though, I would say he's a 2nd-3rd round type talent with some risk associated. 

Best Fit

I could see Peters fitting in very well with the Buffalo Bills or Atlanta Falcons. Each team has solid starters in the cornerback position, but virtually no depth. Peters is a much more physical guy than the competition, and I could see him starting a lot of games as a rookie. Each team has a pick near the middle of the 3rd round which is where I believe Peters will wind up.
