With Prices Falling and Travel Still Cheap, Now Is The Time To Buy Super Bowl 50 Tickets

As one prolific career comes to an end, another may soon be defined in Santa Clara. There is little history between Peyton Manning and Cam Newton, but the two quarterbacks will go head-to-head for the NFL’s ultimate glory at Levi’s Stadium Sunday night. And while the milestone game is sure to draw fans from all across the globe, ticket prices are continuing to fall in the days leading up to kickoff. According to TiqIQ, the average price for Super Bowl 50 tickets is now $4,835.55 on the secondary market. That marks a 21.6% drop on average from last Tuesday’s median price of $6,167.36. The cheapest available ticket is now $2,993, down 14.4% from last week’s $3,497 get-in price. So why are prices for Super Bowl 50 tickets plummeting as the game draws closer? It could be due to the increase in ticket inventory following the conclusion of the Championship Round, or perhaps a universal lull in excitement. FiveThirty Eight’s Elo-based Super Bowl model shows the Carolina Panthers as heavy favorites to claim their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history, and with Manning continuing to nurse a nagging left foot in the worst statistical season of his career, the odds appear to be in Carolina’s favor. The opportunity to save doesn’t end with ticket prices. Travel arrangements to and from Santa Clara can still be made for relatively cheap on Hipmunk.com, which offers the best deals on flights and hotels to Super Bowl 50. The cheapest roundtrip flight from Charlotte to San Francisco, which departs on Friday, February 5 and returns Monday, February 8, is now $712.70 via American Airlines. Plenty of hotels still exist both in the San Francisco and Santa Clara areas as well. If willing to make the trip south, San Francisco hotels on Hipmunk start from just $48 per night this weekend. Three-star hotels and up can be found from $169 each night. It will be pricier to stay in Santa Clara, but deals still exist for those hell-bent on keeping a close proximity to Levi’s Stadium. Hotels in Santa Clara on Hipmunk start from $162 each night this weekend on Hipmunk. Many of the hotels that are still available in the Santa Clara area are rated three stars and up, so comfort is still in the cards if making last-minute plans to the milestone game. The Broncos and Panthers last faced each other in Charlotte during the 2012 regular season. Manning bested Newton en route to a 36-14 victory, throwing for 301 passing yards and a touchdown while Newton threw for two touchdowns and two interceptions. Newton has greatly matured since his last meeting with Manning, however, and has both the poise and skill to keep Manning from his elusive second Super Bowl ring. It is unknown if Manning will hang it up for good following his appearance in Super Bowl 50, but a win on the NFL’s biggest stage would certainly be a fitting curtain call to a career bound for Canton. And with ticket prices continuing to nosedive, being a part of history may not have to break the bank.
