The Carolina Panthers promoted rookie safety Robert Lester to the active roster from the practice squad.
He replaces Charles Godfrey, who's been placed on injured reserve with a torn Achilles.
The Panthers needed depth at safety since Quintin Mikell could miss a game with an ankle injury.
D.J. Moore (knee) and Mike Mitchell (hamstring) have been dealing with injuries.
Lester played collegiately at Alabama.
