The Dallas Cowboys quietly signed defensive tackle Josh Brent to a one-year, $745,000 contract extension for 2015 late this week, according to a league source.
Brent got no signing bonus or guaranteed money.
He started practicing this week.
Brent is serving a 10-game suspension stemming from him driving a car while under the influence of alcohol that killed Cowboys linebacker and friend Jerry Brown in 2012.
Brent can be activated from the reserve-suspended list the week of the Cowboys' Nov. 23 game against the New York Giants.
Brent was convicted of intoxication manslaughter. He served time in jail and 45 days in a treatment facility.
